Companies doing business with Nashville Metro government will soon have to pledge not to discriminate against employees based on sexual orientation or gender identity.

The Metro Council approved a bill Tuesday requiring government contractors to abide by that guideline by a vote of 21-15, with three abstentions. A source of controversy in the business community, the bill drew sharp debate from council members Tuesday night.

Councilman Jamie Hollin, a sponsor of the bill, said after the vote that Metro had “sent a clear signal all around the world” that people of all kinds are welcome to work in Nashville.

last night with their victory at home over Sacramento, the Grizz clinched their 4th ever franchise appearance in the post-season, and their first in five years. It is still not clear whether the Grizz will be the 6th, 7th, or 8th seed in the western conference, but hopes are very high that this will be the year they finally end their 0-12 playoff drought.

Seeing as how this is Fowler's Masters debut, that score is probably more even more impressive than it looks. To put a little perspective on it, McIlroy managed just an even 72 in his first Masters appearance in 2009.

It took some time for Fowler to find his stride today. His score stood at two-over heading into the par-4 14th, and Fowler then proceeded to birdie four of the last five holes.

In addition to this being Fowler's first Masters, this is also just his fifth major tournament. The 22-year-old Anaheim native made his major debut at the U.S. Open in 2008, and his best showing came at least year's Open Championship, where he finished tied for 14th. (via)
