um, succinctly... yes.
the first half of the performance is fairly tame, excluding her bizarre
outfit. some really nice
singing and
dancing, but things take a turn for the strange when she adopts a crutch and starts hobbling around and a dancer is wheeled out in a glitter wheelchair. then she bangs on the piano for a second liberace style and comes back bleeding from the chest (!). she starts wailing and her backup dancers decide to hang her in effigy. gulp. its a pretty transparent commentary on the high price of fame and celebrity, but i am happy to praise her for her bold vision and fearlessness. well played.
so thank you gaga for that show. you are a breath of fresh air in this
often stale pop music scene. i do believe that it will be talked about for years to come, and will go down as one of the
show-making moments mtv so desperately needs to stay relevant.

one more thing:
i think its a testament to the high quality of the show that the janet jackson michael jackson tribute was the least interesting part of the whole thing
I admire that one guy at the end who keeps flashdancing even though his queen has died, or whatever.
