i'm a day behind, BUT... last night, i watched two things:
first, i watched
the hills finale, which was a hot mess. i don't believe for one second that chicken tetrazzini even stepped foot on a plane to europe. i also don't believe for one second that the show was in any way fake. you can't fool me, brody jenner! I KNOW IT WAS ALL REAL! you guys are my friends! you wouldn't lie to me. i miss you already.
then, i watched
the deadliest catch. and speaking of real, one of the main characters, captain phil harris, died of complications from a stroke. this was the conclusion of a four episode build-up, and i'm relieved that we finally made it. jicydak, phil asked the crew to keep the cameras rolling, and i think discovery channel kept it pretty classy in their depiction of his death. oof, i just cried and cried.
the
internet is
a-buzz with discussions of reality tv's first real death. most agree that the show is to be commended for its discretion, authenticity and sensivity in handling the matter. the episode was the highest rated for the d-est c, and third highest of any discovery program, with
about 8.5 million viewers,
on
a side note, captain phil's death was watched by 5.5 more millions than the hills finale, which aired during the d-est c's after show, which drew 5.6 million, which was still 2.6 more millions than the hills finale.
