dont startle prancy.

Conrad Milster, Pratt Institute’s chief engineer, has worked in the Brooklyn power plant nearly his entire adult life. Starting as a mechanic in 1958, he later became one of only four chief engineers in the plant’s 127-year history, taking over the official duties in 1965. He’s been there ever since. (via)

this news is 24 hours old...

...but i'm still thinking about it. read how terrible HJ landlords rip off black people to line their pockets by aiding gentrification.
I got used to it. And I understand it. Not all Jewish people are nice people. Every tree has a bad apple. Some of them are really nasty and can trick their tenants. But some of the tenants put up such a fight that you have to trick them. I used to do that — but I don’t do that anymore. I did that once four years ago. I told someone, “I’m going to give you twenty grand to move — just move out first, and then I’ll give you the money.” And then I screwed them. I gave him something but not the money I told him. And he couldn’t come back to me because he wasn’t even legally supposed to live there. (via)
i have my suspicions about this article in general. it seems crazy that this guy would put all his tactics out there for the world to read.

whatever you do, do not read the comments.

more maraschino madness!

Remember when we told you
about how the bees in Brooklyn were getting drunk and turning red from drinking too much cherry juice at the maraschino factory in Red Hook? Well the feds must have been listening, and things did not turn out so well for the maraschino factory owner.

Inside the cherry factory, they found a hidden room with 80 pounds of weed, fancy cars, tons of cash and bees that were stoned out of their minds. According to this, that was when Mr. Maraschino said excuse me and went to go shoot himself in the head with the gun he kept in an ankle holster. Sheeeeeyut.

you should be watching "high maintenance"

hannah told me about it! its a web series which follows the adventures of a weed delivery man in brooklyn. it's got a little of everything. gawker calls it the best show about living in gentrified brooklyn.

there's like 20 of them on vimeo.
