and now, some information about the queen's corgis
The fascinating secrets of her corgis’ daily dinner ritual is revealed by animal psychologist Dr Roger Mugford in a forthcoming special edition of Town & Country, dedicated to the Queen’s 90th birthday on 21 April. Having worked for the royal household for decades, Mugford has long observed the sovereign and her cherished pets at close quarters.
“At feeding times, each dog had an individually designed menu, including an array of homeopathic and herbal remedies. Their food was served by a butler in an eclectic collection of battered silver and porcelain dishes,” he writes.
“As I watched, the Queen got the corgis to sit in a semi-circle around her, and then fed them one by one, in order of seniority. The others just sat and patiently waited their turn.” (via)

more info:
Max has been a treasured companion of the Princess, 24, since she received it for Christmas when she was 13.
The dog featured on the family's 2005 Christmas card in a photograph taken by the Duchess of York. Its picture was also on a £450 handbag that she carried to the Royal Family's Easter service at St George's Chapel in 2004.
Max disappeared in 2008 from the family home in Windsor Great Park, and a search party, including the Queen, the Duchess of York and Princess Eugenie, was formed. Three weeks later he was found bedraggled and hungry. The royal source added: "It's ironic that the Queen was very worried about Max and helped in the search for him, but now her own dogs have attacked him."
The Queen owns three Pembroke Welsh corgis called Monty, Willow and Holly, which are all descended from a dog she was given for her 18th birthday, which was called Susan.
Some corgis were mated with dachshunds, most notably Pipkin, which belonged to the late Princess Margaret, to create "Dorgis". Her three Dorgis are called Cider, Candy and Vulcan.

meet your worst nighmare

when someone mentions the jersey shore, you might imagine parasites of the guido variety, but prepare yourself for something infinitely more horrifying. meet the cymothoa exigua, aka the tongue eating louse, aka snookie, aka schnickas. this crustacean parasite consumes and replaces the tongue of spotted rose snappers off the coast of california, and until recently, it was thought that the c. exigua could only be found on the west coast of the US. however, in september of this year it was also discovered inhabiting the mouth of the weaver fish off the coast of jersey....england. if you'd like to read more about this disgusting creature, click here and here, 'cause knowledge is power.
