i know it seems like something you should avoid, and i did avoid it for a couple of days, but my morbid curiosity won out in the end, and i read the nymag "my abortion" feature. i have to say it was quite illuminating and moving at times and only contained a couple of medical nightmares, so i encourage you, especially, to check it out.
BUT.
whatever you do, do NOT read this new yorker piece about a woman who had a late-term miscarriage while traveling in mongolia. do. NOT. i haven't been able to close my eyes all week.

frayser girls are stoopid
"It's a shame that all these girls at Frayser are pregnant, but it ain't nothing new," said Sutton. "Some girls just try to do it because they think it's cute. For some, it's an accident."Sutton said she believes some girls are making agreements with each other to get pregnant.
"They probably plan it," she said. "Plan what they're going to do to get pregnant. No telling."
Sutton said educators need to do more to try to help prevent teen pregnancies.
"They need a class where they can teach the girls before they get pregnant to use protection and stuff," said Sutton. "And don't try to get pregnant."
no big deal. just one out of five girls in school pregnant or with babies. what?

Radar Online and TMZ reported this morning that the "Teen Mom" star was officially charged by the Madison County Prosecutor's Office with three felonies: two for domestic battery and one count of neglect of a dependent. On top of that, she faces one misdemeanor count of domestic battery. The charges were all filed on Dec. 27. (via)
