Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard resigned Wednesday after the Australian Labor Party voted her out of its leadership.

She had called for the vote herself after months of inner-party friction ahead of a general election due in September.

Her rival, former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, takes her place as party leader, after winning the internal ballot in a 57-45 vote, according to an ALP spokesman. (via)

tragedy struck today when someone threw a ham at paula deen's face!!! when i find out who's responsible for this, there will be hell to pay.

While tossing hams and turkeys, a misguided thrown ham hit Deen in the face, but that didn’t sideline her from the topic at hand.

"I think it might have hit maybe just right where, I thought it busted my lip, but it didn't," said Deen.

While Deen managed to escape visible injury, she did say the area around her nose hurt.

"I just got hit with a hog so what do I expect said Deen through laughter. "Ran head on to a hog." (via)

dutch royal assassination attempt

yesterday, the dutch were celebrating queen's day when a guy who lost his job plowed through people and police barricades in an attempt to run down the open air bus that carried the royal family. many onlookers were injured, 5 were killed, and the royals could only look on in horror.

very weird story with very compelling video.

2Pz loves all things dutch and our hearts go out to the families of those who were injured or lost in this mishap.
