my goodness, how embarrassing!
Former University of Georgia head coach Vince Dooley (1964-1988) compiled a 201-77-10 record with the Bulldogs and if you weren’t sure who he was voting for in the upcoming presidential election, you should know by now. Dooley appeared on stage with Donald Trump on Wednesday at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta.
According to ajc.com, Dooley said, “You’re the one who’s going to make America great again. God bless America, God bless Donald. The people have spoken.” (via)

you guys.
now that a couple of days have passed, i can trust that this wasn't just a glorious dream.
for all of your enquiring minds, starla's first words were "i wanna go back to nashville." but instead we got drunk on the strip with the college students.
here is an excellent takeaway.

well now i'm excited.
The University of Tennessee’s Pride of the Southland Band will bring an East Tennessee treasure to life on Neyland Stadium’s field on Saturday.
At halftime during the UT vs. Georgia game (3:30 p.m. CBS), the band will dedicate its show to Dolly Parton and perform some of her most famous songs including “Jolene,” “Coat of Many Colors,” “I Will Always Love You” and “9 to 5.”
“I looked back through all the years ... the band has never done a tribute totally dedicated to Dolly Parton,” said Dr. Donald Ryder, UT’s Director of Bands.
“Since she’s such an East Tennessee treasure and this is her home and everybody loves her, I said ‘Why not?’ so I sat down and started thinking about show ideas, and basically it evolved into what I think’s going to be a very neat show.” (via)i know the article says she's busy and won't perform, but i'm going to get every last one of my hopes up anyway.

football puppy saved by football soldier
Texas A&M has three cadets during football games to watch over their mascot. While Reveille was relaxing on the sidelines, a collision with a SMU player was avoided by the athletic move of the guardian cadet. (via)reveille is my second favorite football puppy. UGA-ly is my least favorite football pile of mush.

it's a bye week.
grantland's holly anderson took the trip to oklahoma with the vols and wrote all about them and how cute they are.
i am really going to miss watching all those young individuals mature this weekend. and i'm also going to miss watching them crush georgia's dreamz next weekend because i'll be on a mountaintop helping erin macbreath get married. starla will have to miss it too though, so that helps.
Right about here, these guys get loud. Before each home game, seven of former Vols coach Robert Neyland’s game maxims are recited in the stadium bearing his name, and the sound of 100,000 or so voices trying to keep time feels like a rhythmless roar in the open UT air. The 70 or so voices doing it in a cramped visitors’ locker room are entirely in unison, and the volume is skull-rattling. The cadence speeds up as they go along, and when they finish blurting out the final maxim (“CARRY THE FIGHT TO OKLAHOMA AND KEEP IT THERE FOR 60 MINUTES”), they turn and run for the field. Just as they hit the stadium concourse leading back to that ramp, ominous bell-tolling sounds roll in, signaling the Sooners’ emergence. It’s just dark enough to see pregame fireworks burst and glitter behind the top rows of bleachers.chillz!!

the most wonderful time of the year
we're 3 days away from the first day of college football season, 5 days away from the first football saturday and 6 days away from the vols season opener, because they are inexplicably playing on a sunday night.
so, it's time to decorate your work computers for all your co-workers to enjoy! here are some ideas (click2enlarge):

oh, and if you're a georgia fan, you could use this.

our QB is a baby genius.
tennessee QB josh dobbs has been named in NFL's 14 smartest college football players of '14!
Spend a few minutes with Dobbs and you can understand why he makes this list. He started four games under center for the Vols last year as a true freshman, but still managed to keep his grades up in the aerospace engineering major he's picked. We're sure Alabama's defense is just as tough as honors calculus class. (via)to answer your question: no, there were no georgia players on this list.

readers of this blog aren't morons, but you probably have to talk to people that say stupid things like "sec teams don't play any hard non-conference games." while this is true for some teams (lookin' at you, auburn) teams that ain't skerred (the vols, oc) have been playing tough teams every year. but now, your retar oops, can't say that, your big ten friends can't say a gahdurn thing.
...the SEC will begin mandating that each program incorporate an annual nonconference game against a power conference starting in 2016. espnhere's to another 1000 years of sec dominance.

every season is football season.
our 2pz sports commentator bun-bun is about to get his ass laid. off. there has been a veritable FONT of great news coming out of knoxville this week, and you haven't heard a peep. let's get started.
this shouldnt surprise anyone, but at the end of national signing day, butch jones and his recruiting team put together the FIFTH-RANKED recruiting class in the nation. to answer your question: yes, that's better than georgia's.
one should also note that a fifth-ranked class is only third-ranked in the SEC, and that 7 of the top 10 recruiting classes were from the SEC, and that all 14 SEC teams made it into the top 50.
one of the highlights of signing day was the berry twins. jicydak, the younger twin brothers of 2Pz all-time favorite vol eric berry verbally committed to tennessee when they were just 14 years old. playing together for their high school team, they won a (georgia) state championship last year.
read how cute and well-liked they are HERE.
here's a video of a 5-star recruit telling the story of how coach butch jones convinced him to keep his talents in tennessee.
and finally, here's a photo of one of our 2014 recruits, d'andre payne, literally jumping for joy as he enters neyland for the first time as a vol. *single tear*
d'andre, i notice you're wearing modesty harvesty's number, and i like your spirit so far.

Butch Jones came out swinging, landing a ridiculous 33 new players in his first full class as head coach of the Volunteers. It includes a massive upgrade at the skill positions, including borderline five-star running back Jalen Hurd, four-star back Derrell Scott, four-star receivers Josh Malone and Von Pearson, and four-star tight end Daniel Helm.
The Vols also got signatures from a U.S. Army All-American in safety Todd Kelly, a ready-to-play offensive tackle in JuCo transfer Dontavius Blair, and six four-star recruits for the defensive front seven. (via)read how it all came together HERE. (thx dan!)

keeping up with the klausens
Vol For Life Casey Clausen has been named the head football coach at Calabasas High School in California. The former Vols signal caller will be joined by brother and fellow VFL Rick Clausen as an assistant coach.kylie and i are amused that "vol for life" is used as a title in this article. we also think we should get a say in who gets to use the title. i mean, rick? really? casey maaaaayyybbeee, but rick?
