For the first time in nearly 80 years, NYBG has a corpse flower on display! Also known as the titan-arum, Amorphophallus titanum last bloomed here in 1939, and our current specimen looks just about ready to unfurl. These unpredictable plants have a brief but vivid blooming period of just 24–36 hours, and that's after 10 years of careful tending by our horticulturists. We expect the plant to live up to its name in the next few days with a vibrant color and fragrance that should make clear why it's called the corpse flower. Mmm...

I came across this via a friend's gchat status. Apparently he and some other folks I know have a blog about Knoxville (a grand little city in Tennessee, and home of the Vols, duh). It's called "The Sunsphere is not a Wig Shop", which is a Simpsons reference icydak.

As far as the Biscuit Fest goes, I won't be able to make it this year, but I plan on going to it in the future, o.c. Icyww, Knoxville makes sense for this event because it is the historic home of White Lily Flour, considered the best flour, IN THE WORLD, for biscuits. But Smuckers ruined that.

Also, White Lilly Flower would be a good nickname for a 2pz follower/tipster/commenter that I know.

wedding gone wrong

this italian couple had this charming idea to have the wedding bouquet tossed from an airplane.

what could go wrong with that? well, the bouquet got sucked in the engine, blew it up, the plane crashed into a hostel. AH hah AHAHA HAHAH AHA ahahahaha. one injured, no one died.
