tilda swinton on amy schumer

from time's 100 most influential people feature:
Amy Schumer is the girl you knew at your fantasy school—yeah, her at the back with the quick, dangerous eyes. When you wished the funny ones were also kind, when you wondered why none of the clever ones had real guts, when you wanted sexy to look like something properly glamorous and more interesting than an action figure, it was Amy you were dreaming up.
She’s the one most likely to be on your side when the bullies circle in. That’s her face, there, that one pushing in to save you, elbowing them out of the way. She’s the one who misses nothing: who buys no bullsh-t, fitted with a radar as keen as a rabbiting spaniel.
She’s the first in the water every time, fully clothed with the abandon only 8- or 80-year-olds tend to display, and she urges us to join her. I’m in.
Amy’s got your back. She’s in your corner. She’s an honesty bomb. And she’s coming for you.
there are a bunch more real good ones here.

hey queens, the beach is back

Ft. Tilden is officially back open after hurricane sandy came in and messed it all up. go find your tank top, reserve a seat on the hipster school bus, and grab a few mar-GO-ritas and pina-GO-ladas from duane reade because it is time to get unsupervised. via

Does anyone have $18,000 they can lend/give me?

bc there is a Grand Budapest Hotel cruise screening on the Queen Mary 2 with people like Wes Anderson, Tilda Swinton, and Jason Schwartzman. It leaves from New York and ends in London. And they'll probably serve great food and you get to play shuffleboard with Tilda Swinton. The only thing is it costs at minimum $1,200 and maximum like $18k. But it's totally worth it to see this face:

tilda swinton is a cuckoo pants

"Museum staff doesn't know she's coming until the day of, but she's here today," a museum source told Gothamist (who also took some fun photos.) The performance, titled The Maybe, will remain "unannounced" and "random" and will last for a full day when it happens. Swinton (who's done this before in London and Rome) hasn't said anything about the piece, and MoMA's official comments only confirmed that there would be "no published schedule for its appearance, no artist's statement released, no museum statement beyond this brief context, no public profile or image issued. Those who find it chance upon it for themselves, live and in real — shared — time: now we see it, now we don't." via

my favorite movies of 2010, by joel.

toy story 3
those little toys and their grim acceptance of their impending deaths made me cry real tears in the theater. best animated film ever?

i am love
tilda swinton knocks me out in this really beautiful italian film where the visual element makes up for an otherwise simple plot.

black swan
an academy award winning performance. drama drama drama! and sex and violence.

inception
this one had everyone talking. it was loud, visually stunning, fast paced, and an original blockbuster.

the kids are alright
the performances are stunning.

joan rivers : a piece of work
joan rivers continues to make herself relevant. that in and of itself is quite an accomplished piece of work.

i am love, redux

sometimes things bear repeating. kylie already reviewed this little picture, but since it never opened in wide release, there is a good chance you never had the opportunity to see it.

i saw it last night (netflix) and was totally mesmerized. it was a visual feast and tells a timeless story, see it any way you can. not enough biscuits for tilda swinton.

also, here is another internet challenge for you... i want to know what font was used on the title card graphics between scenes during the film. help?

2Pz movie review

winter's bone:
this guy won first place at sundance a little while back. as you might could tell, i was drawn to its creepy backwoods rock-bottom-of-humanity subject matter. and in this aspect, it did not disappoint. the story's interesting enough: a girl on the search for her meth-cookin' daddy, thwarted by the secrets being protected within her slightly inbred ozarks community. the acting is impeccable, but the real appeal is the dialogue (including the threat "i already told you once with my mouth.") i really enjoyed this one, and give it about 9 biscuits!

i am love:
god damn, tilda swinton. how are you so ridiculously good? saw this'n last night, and gah. i really liked it. it's not perfect, but it is absolutely GORGEOUS. i am love tells the story of a russian-born italian housewife who's just had it up to here with the monotony of it all. and boy does she love food. i mean you can't even imagine how much she loves it. anyway, it's set in milan, mostly in this incredible mid-century mansion that is so weird and so awesome. the titles and credits are classic. the people are pretty, and the fashions are hot2trot, specially tilda's orange outfits. i could just look and look for hours. omg and the soundtrack! this one's too lush for dvd. see it in theaters or else. 10 beautiful biscuits!
