As the Denver Broncos wait to hear from Peyton Manning, the Tennessee Titans have emerged as a strong competitor for the superstar quarterback.
Manning, who is also considering the Cardinals and Dolphins, is meeting with the Titans’ brass and then he is expected to make a decision on his future. There has been recent chatter that Manning may be swayed to stay in the AFC South and play for the Titans. Wednesday, Manning’s former boss didn’t do anything to end that talk.
Former Indianapolis general manager and current ESPN analyst Bill Polian said on "SportsCenter" that he thinks the Titans are the most logical landing spot for Manning. Polian cited that Manning and his wife, Ashley, have ties to the state. Manning was a legendary quarterback at the University of Tennessee.
So, location could be a big stumbling block for John Elway. This doesn’t mean Manning won’t be a Bronco, but the Titans may have an emotional edge. Whatever happens, I’m sure the Broncos want a resolution so they can proceed with the rest of their free-agency plan, regardless of the outcome of the Manning sweepstakes. (via)

Obama, Tennessee Titans Have No Clue Why Team Invited To White House
WASHINGTON—As cameras snapped and members of the press looked on, neither President Obama nor members of the Tennessee Titans were able to provide any indication as to why the professional football team might have been invited to visit the White House Tuesday. "We are honored to have this team here today," said Obama, who paused to confer privately with an aide after appearing confused by the appearance in the Oval Office of the NFL's 27th-ranked team. "It's good to see you. God bless America." Following the exchange, the befuddled Titans handed the president a jersey, posed for more pictures, and flew back to Nashville in confused silence. NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Tennessee Titans are suing Southern California and coach Lane Kiffin for "maliciously" luring away assistant running backs coach Kennedy Pola a week before training camp opens.
Tennessee Football Inc., the company that owns the Titans, filed the lawsuit Monday in Davidson County Chancery Court against both the university and Kiffin.
The lawsuit accuses Southern California and Kiffin of violating Pola's contract that required him to have written permission to discuss a job with anyone other than the Titans. (via)i'll be honest, this claim doesn't seem to hold a lot of water. but, any attempt at consequences for lane kiffin's jerkstore behavior is ok by me. TITAN UP!

congrats eric berry!!
2Pz favorite vol, eric berry, was drafted 5th last night to the kansas city cheifs. it's hard for me to think about watching him play wearing that horrific red color, but we couldn't be more proud of him.
in other tennessee football draft news, the titans picked derrick morgan from georgia tech. i don't know anything about him, but i welcome any player who spent his college career at the only school that hates georgia more than we do. unfortunately, this apparently means they're not going to get albert haynesworth and his F-650 back anymore. =(
GO VOLS!!! and GO TITANS!!

UPDATE: The NFL has fined Tennessee Titans owner Bud Adams $250,000 for making an obscene gesture at Bills fans. (via)
Played in front of NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, the significance of their 41-17 victory Sunday over the Buffalo Bills wasn't lost on the Tennessee Titans.
Owner Bud Adams even got in on the act.
The 86-year-old Adams was seen throwing an emphatic series of middle fingers from a luxury suite at LP Field in Nashville, Tenn., after the Titans (3-6) had secured the blowout over the Bills (3-6), which included 24 straight points in the fourth quarter.
According to The Associated Press, the NFL was looking into the hand gestures Monday. (via)

thanks, tennessee titans, for helping point out all of texas's dumb mistakes. turns out their giant television is too low, and if you're too good at punting, like all the titans punters certainly are, you'll hit it!
