there is a purse for sale here that acts as an extra charger that you can use during the day.
granted, you have to charge your purse and your phone at night, but, it's still a pretty awesome idea.

we were there - cellphone throwing scandal

Have you read about the theater critic who tossed a lady's cellphone across the room when she refused to stop texting during the show? You can read about it here or here or here or here or about a million other places on the internet.

If you have any other questions, you can ask me or Ms. Dangles because we were at that show! Mike's friend Dave wrote all the music and is a main performer. It is in a really cool pop-up cabaret style theater tucked under the Highline, across the street from the Standard. Anyway, we were seated about 10 feet away from those involved and I distinctly remember looking over my shoulder several times throughout the show because some drunk ladies were causing a commotion. We took to calling them the Real Housewives of NYC because it seemed like they were out for attention... the wrong kind of attention. I didn't see the slap, but I did see the woman charge down the stairs after her phone and immediately storm out through the performance space into the bar/ lobby. It is actually a great testament to the fortitude of the performers that they were able to continue seamlessly in the face of such a disruption. Go see it if you're ever in the mood for a Russian rock opera musical based on War and Peace and you want to eat dinner at a table with strangers and possible witness a battle in the ongoing cell phone culture war.

BEWARE! North Korea is coming after you.

luckily, if you have the ability to use photoshop, and you've had a sandwich and some chips today, you're probably in better condition than the north korean army.

on the other hand, barack obama needs to up his game if we are going to compete with kim jon-un's severe skin fade and THREE landlines.

the internet is talking about...

Something's going around the internet. it's called the phone stack. Basically, it's a game where when each member of the party arrives at the table they place their phone face down in a stack. Over the course of dinner you eat and converse like human beings. If your phone buzzes, you have to leave it be or pay the price (literally). The first person to touch their phone before the bill comes loses the game and dinner's on them.

I think we (that means you too) are pretty controlled as a group when it comes to being present when we are together, but I like this idea. We should try it one time.

your phone is going to work on the subway now

good news!? MTA is dragging itself by the bootstraps into the 90s and will finally provide cell service at six pilot subway stations on 14th street. via.

As promised, underground cell-phone service for AT&T and T-Mobile customers is coming, and will start at six subway stations on Tuesday. The A, C, E, F, L, M, 1, 2, and 3 platforms along 14th Street, along with the C and E station at 23 Street, will provide the testing ground for Transit Wireless, with all stations expected to be connected by 2016. No one will ever have to put their devices away again. [amNY]

go listen to this

Over the weekend, the Internet flipped its shit over a leaked MP3 purporting to be Britney Spears's long-lost demo for "Telephone," a song Lady Gaga had originally written for Spears (who ultimately declined to use it) before recording it herself. There's some debate over whether it's actually Britney — we have listened and it's either her or the robot from Forbidden Planet — and it's pretty awful, but regardless of its authenticity or quality, it's definitely the best thing Britney's done in years.

go to nymag and listen.

teenage slutbags.

Fifteen percent of teenagers who have cell phones say they are involved in sexting. A new study by the Pew Research Center's Internet & American Life Project found that nearly one in six young people aged 12-17 has received a sexually suggestive, nude or nearly nude picture via cell phone.

"[I've sexted] a few times," writes one high-school boy. "... Just my girlfriend sending pictures of herself to me and me sending pictures of myself to her."

Or as one high-school girl explains, "If a guy wants to hookup with you, he'll send a pictures of his private parts or a naked picture of him[self]. ... It's mostly the guys I date or just a guy that ... really wants to hook up with you." (via)
