just sayin'

patrick halley is the parker of people.

12th and porter

have you ever heard of a rat king (dont click on that)? i went to 12th and porter to find my sister after the coldplay concert and found this bike king attached to a post. i also saw some of the most eccentric people i have ever seen in real life. its like i was at a costume party (well technically it was a costume party, but the people in the weirdest costumes had no pretensions of dressing like Miami Vice).

coldplay

i randomly got a free ticket to go see coldplay in nashville on saturday at the sommet center (FAAANG FINGERRRS). opening act snow patrol was very charming and irish. another thing i discovered is that i dont need to defend why i like coldplay. everyone secretly likes them.

the stage set was pretty cool. the backdrop and costumes had a french revolutionary theme, a la Viva la Vida. it was one of those shows where you are like, "this is my favorite song!" "THIS is my FAVORITE song!!" you know what i mean.

at one point towards the end of the show, the guys walked down the floor side aisle and went up to a little platform a couple rows behind my seats (a la POTS traveling band at games) to play three acoustic songs. it was a real thrill.

this is how close i got to chris martin when he was walking back to do the acoustic set. i could smell the GOOP on him. also, did you know that the bassist is actually REALLY cute?

now, there's something to be proud of.

what is leisl doing?

emily went home this past week, and it looks like she got in some serious playtime with her adorable puppy, liesl!

"standing proudly over her prey, obviously. she really needs to understand how strong she is before she jumps on people."

"but also look at how much we love each other!!! isn't she the best thing ever???"

do you guys think this yacht is cool?

Infinitas is the second design launch of Schöpfer Yachts. Our new 300 foot (91.5 meter) yacht was designed by E. Kevin Schopfer with Sparkman Stephens, Naval Architects. The design’s main inspiration comes from the symbol for infinity which has been abstractly expressed within the yacht’s elevation. (website)

poor american journalists

the highest court in north korea has decided that lisa ling's sister and someone else deserve hard labor for the next 12 years of their lives.

the two journalists were working for current tv on a story about refugees or womens rights, depending on who you ask. they are accused of "hostile acts." there is talk of bill richardson or al gore or somebody going over there to get em back.

don't forget!

weeds is back tonight!!

Would you like some poop with that water?

Swimmers are being told to stay out of the water at Coney Island and nearby Manhattan Beach because of concerns about a sewage overflow.

Daddy's money trouble will hurt your lifestyle

Famed for its concentration of heavily subsidized 20-something residents — also nicknamed trust-funders or trustafarians — Williamsburg is showing signs of trouble. Parents whose money helped fuel one of the city’s most radical gentrifications in recent years have stopped buying their children new luxury condos, subsidizing rents and providing cash to spend at Bedford Avenue’s boutiques and coffee houses.

Accents Mocked in Central Park Balloon Wars

Two airheads tried to pop a rival balloon artist in Central Park, authorities said yesterday. The men threatened Charles Nassif, 39, telling him, "If you stay here, you'll see what will happen to you," police sources said.

"I felt like I was violated," the Australian native said. "They were mocking my accent."

Nassif -- who says he accepts small donations for his balloon figures -- had been set up in front of the zoo on May 31 when he was confronted at 11:30 a.m. by another balloon artist, the sources said.

The rival, identified only as Jason, flashed a permit and asked if Nassif had one. "I said I didn't need one because I don't use helium," Nassif said. He said Jason and Jason's pal, Sasha Alhovsky, 39, tried to steal his customers by offering balloons for free.

Nassif filed a police report alleging harassment on June 4. No one was charged. But Alhovsky says Nassif is full of hot air. He claims that parks officials ordered Nassif to move, and that, before complying, his rival threatened, "I'll have your legs broken."

The houses, an 11,135-square-foot French Norman with a list price of $11.95 million, and an 11,870-square-foot Colonial Revival for $11.2 million, are unabashedly large. Whether this is an admirable aspect of what Mr. Stern called the New Urbanism, or out of place just north of the established — and exclusive — Fieldston neighborhood, depends on your point of view. get well soon, heidi!

Heidi Pratt was tortured by NBC to the point she was "convulsively throwing up" -- that's what some people on the set of "I'm a Celebrity ... Get Me Out of Here!" are telling TMZ.

We've learned Heidi was rushed to the hospital and diagnosed with a gastric ulcer, after being held with hubby Spencer Pratt in a dark room for a day and a night with only water, rice and beans. It was designed as punishment because they left the show. One cast member described their treatment this way: "It's the same as Guantanamo Bay." (tmz)

RECIFE, Brazil (CNN) -- Sixteen bodies have been recovered from last week's crash of an Air France jetliner in the Atlantic Ocean, Brazil's military announced Monday. The Brazilian navy and air force said they have found nine bodies in the wide search area around where the Airbus A330-200 went down. The crew of a French vessel taking part in the search has found seven bodies, military officials told reporters Sunday evening. (cnn)
