what are you doing july 28?

me and joel and g.animalz and melissa are going to see 2Pz mega-faves robyn and kelis in concert together at music hall of williamsburg!

jealous?!?

joel told us about this earlier:
Followers of both Kelis and Robyn on Twitter saw some playful back-and-forth between the two artists this morning, wherein Robyn asked the “Acapella” singer, “Hey mama, I´m bored. U feel like doing something?” Kelis replied, “Love to. Thinking it’d be fun 2 hit the road together?” Eventually all their teasing led to the playfully coy announcement of the two singers’ All Hearts tour (which we’re adamantly choosing to believe is real and not a joke). its not a joke, its real and we're going!

bonus links:
i was just discussing the creepy parallels in timing between these two ladies' careers. both had minor hits in the late nineties (see links), and now both are having huge reinventive career surges over the last 2 years. go girls.
kelis - caught out there (1998)
robyn - show me love (1997)

The baby elephant, orphaned at six months old when his mother fell down a cliff, chased his new friend Albert until the sheep took refuge in a shelter -- for 12 hours.
But since then, the animals have been "inseparable," say observers, napping together, walking together, and even picking up habits: Albert (sheep) figured out how to eat thorny bushes by following Themba's (elephant) lead to avoid the spikes.

holy crap, that's adorbs.

The National Zoo has a new red panda cub -- the first born at the zoo in more than a decade.
The cub was born June 16. Officials also said two other panda cubs were born June 14 at the Zoo's Front Royal, Va., conservation center, but only one survived.

The parents of the new zoo cub are Tate and Shama, who were introduced in 2009. Tate was brought to Washington from the Nashville Zoo.

According to Tony Barthel, curator of the zoo's Asia Trail exhibit, the cub weighed 6.5 ounces as of Thursday and appears healthy. He said Shama is proving to be an attentive first-time mother.

The Zoo has temporarily closed off the red panda section of the Asia Trail to ensure that mother and cub have time to bond. However, visitors may be able to catch a glimpse of the pair from the upper viewing area.

the dutch strike again.

john isner, that dude that spent the last 3 days of his life playing the longest tennis match in history, just lost in 3 real quick sets to an unranked dutchman. some sources say he lost the first set in 16 minutes. the full match only lasted an hour and fifteen.

final score: 6-0, 6-3, 6-2.

guess he was real tired. how emBEARassing.

just leave me alone, ok?

so i read this crazy story on gawker yesterday, and i can't stop thinking about it.

it all takes place in a small village of 1800 people in the northern region of the netherlands known as friesland. anyone who knows anything knows that that's where the dutch keep their crazies. so it was no surprise that this happened there. anyway, so this old guy was living with his 4 old siblings (their ages ranging from 50 to 75), and he got his feelings hurt or something one day four years ago, and told them all that he was going to his room, and to leave him alone.

four years passed, and three days ago, while renovating their home, they needed to get in there to do some work. yep, you guessed it. there the old man was. well, there his corpse was. just laying in bed. for four years! or something.

anyway, that's all the info that was available, and i just couldn't make heads nor tails of any of it. some theories included that 1) dutch people are stereotypically literal, or 2) that he had a bad temper, and no one wanted to p him o by bothering him.

today, there's some new info. like that the family was real religious, and never left the house anyway. contact with outsiders was discouraged. they have really good rules, like: if god wants you to be sick, you just have to deal with it. no doctors!

other than that, no one knows anything. hopefully, the rest of the story will find its way out.

happy north korea invading south korea day!

60 years later and they still don't get along.

hey pervs!

i'm lookin' at you, starla...

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), which oversees the Internet on behalf of the U.S. government, has in the past resisted creating a .xxx generic domain name system akin to those for .com and .net.

It has in recent years repeatedly rejected a request by U.S. company ICM Registry Inc. to sign off on the .xxx domain.

But members of ICANN's board have argued that in order to maintain neutrality in dealing with domain name assignations, it should create .xxx and allow websites with sexually explicit content to start using the suffix on a voluntary basis.

The United States soccer team's dramatic victory over Algeria was followed by a record number of people online and on mobile devices.

ESPN said 1.1 million people watched at least some of the USA's 1-0 win as it was streamed on ESPN3.com Wednesday. The match, which was also watched on ESPN by 6.2 million people, lasted from 10 a.m. to noon ET, during working hours for most of the United States.

The network says it was the biggest online audience for a sporting event, beating the Duke-Butler NCAA championship basketball game on a Monday night from earlier this year.

Exercises in good parenting

I support children breaking records, I support the troops, I support underpants, but there is something about this that rubs me the wrong way. I think it's the way that his birthday party was focused on his parents pulling up his underpants, and the fact that this looks like maybe it wan't a jack-driven idea, AND if someone was in the process of putting 215 pairs of tighty-whiteys, I wouldn't want them to slap me repeatedly in the back and chest while they were doing it.
