i read this awesome post about Cat Power's "The Greatest" and Dusty Springfield's "Dusty in Memphis" and remembered how much i love this song and this album. i remember reading that nicole kidman was going to play dusty in a biopic. i would definitely go see that.

this is a hot track of Janelle's upcoming album, to be released Feb 23. Is it just me, or is she like a female carbon copy of Andre 3000... in a good way.

i was clicking through the Top 10 Bear Stories You Need to Know, and this one in particular caught my attention. turns out this bear lost the will to live, but reconsidered after taking the plunge off this bridge. the bear was trapped and hanging on for dear life until some rescuers figured out a way to suspend a net and save the day. via.

there better be sharks. and lots of them.
Jerry Shefsky, a Toronto-based developer, said on Wednesday that he has signed a preliminary agreement with the landlord of an office tower on the western edge of Times Square to go forward with the $100 million project. He would install tanks featuring sharks, rays, penguins, otters, and other animals in the bottom floors of the 40-story building, known as 11 Times Square, hoping to attract some of the 35 million people who pass through Manhattan's major crossroads every year.
Mr. Shefsky, 76 years old, has built aquariums and shopping centers around the world. He cautioned in an interview that the lease agreement for 11 Times Square isn't yet final. But he said he may start building out the space as early as this April with the hope of opening the aquarium in September 2011. (via)
