the new york times may not be doomed after all. check out their latest interactive feature to see what i mean.
a boro tradition
every year in murfreesboro (that's where i'm from, jicydak), the esteemed publication known as the daily news journal ("the dnj", for short) awards local businesses and locals themselves with prestigious awards called the ruthies. not to be confused with roofies, the name is derived from rutherford county, of which murfreesboro is the county seat.
this year, a good friend of 2Pz, neely james, is up for a ruthie for best teacher. you guys can take our word that she is definitely deserving of this honor. please show your support and hop on over real quick to vote for her. it's just right here.
if you have some extra time, you can vote for other 2Pz faves:
gentleman jim's (#1, i guess)
la siesta
toot's
safari pet resort (where jazzy gets her haircutes!)
thanks in advance for your help!

i'm in the south...
...so i've been driving around a lot. without ipod capabilities, i've had to make do with xm radio. for all the channels xm has to offer, i only like 2 of them. the first one is channel 43, which plays the music i have on my ipod. the other is channel 9, the 90's.
the other day, i hopped over to find this gem, which i had all but forgotten existed. i find it hard to believe this is the official music video (though i'm sure it is). just wouldn't have taken a song of this nature in that direction. oh well. i hope you enjoy n-e-wayz.

speedos
nymag is reporting that the full body skin tight swimmin' suits that set all those records in beijing may be going away in favor of the little speedo. most swimmers dont seem to care. but i bet THIS one who had his skin tight swimsuit bust on him right before a meet is ready to switch back. how embarrassing.

50 years of the Four Seasons
design rag metropolis mag just published an article about New York's famous Four Seasons. what strikes me about the profile of the restaurant contained within the iconic Seagram Building is how much it was a profile of one man, Philip Johnson. More than just the designer of the space, he established himself as the sort of de facto governor of the see and be seen crowd of professionals that paraded through the grill room. anyway, long live the four seasons and long live philip johnson. even though he is dead.

new york ABCs
A lady from England used google maps to put together an entire alphabet based on the architecture and geography of New York. Cool.
