i watched netflix today, Basquiat. Julian Schnabel made this biopic about the New York graffiti artist turned overnight sensation Jean-Michel Basquiat, who died of a drug overdose in 1988. The cast in this movie is stacked: David Bowie, Dennis Hopper, Parker Posey, Jeffrey Wright, Benicio del Toro, Gary Oldman, Claire Forlani, Courtney Love, Willem Dafoe, Christopher Walken, Michael Wincott. 11 biscuits just for getting all those people in one movie. also it was pretty good.

made all the more timely by the recent passing of Dash Snow, graffiti artist turned overnight sensation who died of a drug overdose. :(

this ginormous shark washed up on a beach on long island yesterday!

i, like you, was terrified at first, but don't worry. while this thing looks like a blood-crazed killer, it's just a basking shark. i'm pretty sure they don't even have teeth. just be careful because it could still probably gum you to death. and that would just be the worst.

A sting captured by security cameras nabbed two sticky-fingered airport workers who swiped electronics planted by authorities, officials said.

this italian couple had this charming idea to have the wedding bouquet tossed from an airplane.

what could go wrong with that? well, the bouquet got sucked in the engine, blew it up, the plane crashed into a hostel. AH hah AHAHA HAHAH AHA ahahahaha. one injured, no one died.

another plane crash

The aircraft, operated by Tehran-based Caspian Airlines, was carrying 153 passengers and 15 crew members, state television reported. Television images from the scene showed smoking ruins, with body parts and bits of the plane’s shattered fuselage scattered on the field where the plane crashed. Emergency workers could be seen picking through the wreckage. The crash gouged a trench more than 10 feet deep in the field, near the village of Jannatabad, state news agencies said. (nytimes)
