NeRd aLeRt!
lets take a look around the globe at how different world class cities are planning for the future while dealing with the recession of the present.
New York: Bloomberg and his development obsessed deputy Dan Doctoroff have huge projects that remain unrealized but have still made a dramatic impact on the city during their time in office.
Paris: Recognizing a long understood and ignored problem that haunts the city of lights, French President Sarkozy has turned to the architecture community to find their way out. How can Paris stay mostly the same in the vaunted city center but still extend the charm and beauty to les banlieues?
Los Angeles: Is there enough money in the world to make a space in LA for the civic minded pedestrian?
Barcelona: One of Europe's favorite playground for starchitects is finally feeling the cold crunch of global recession. The whores on Las Ramblas will still be just as charming without a Pritzker pedigree building in the background

The recession on your face
Stress is a leading cause of breakouts, and there’s no shortage of that these days...Manhattan dermatologist Dr. Cheryl Karcher is performing far fewer liposuctions or botox injections but is seeing more patients than ever. “They’re all insurance patients for eczema, acne and warts — they’re all another hit from the immune system,” she says.
Karcher explains that the nervous system and hormone systems work together. “They are tightly intertwined and the nervous system is stimulated by stress. ... I am seeing more acne than you can believe.”

nErD aLeRt!
For two weeks starting this month, curious bits of automotive and art history will be in Manhattan. Four of BMW’s famous Art Cars, used as canvases by the artists Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Frank Stella and Robert Rauschenberg, will be at Grand Central Terminal. The pieces are part of a collection of 16 cars, from a 635CSi to an M1, that BMW has turned over to artists to reimagine since 1975.

What is wrong with fish anyway?
Why are fish so gross all the time? I'd like to think of myself as an open-minded person, especially to the animal world, but fish?--no thanky. Most of they time, they are totally gross.
Perhaps I cannot accept them because we're mammals and they are typically ectothermic (cold-blooded) and covered in scales. So, you know, our races cannot mix.
Fish are abundant in the sea and in fresh water, so you practically can't go anywhere in our H2O and not find them. And, true, many are colorful and fun to look at, but they mostly just give me the creeps. I will use this blog to learn more about their kind and try to learn to love them, in my own way.
