in case you haven't heard : the sartorialist
in case you haven't heard of it, the sartorialist is perhaps my favorite blog. and it's hosted right here on blogger.com! the sartorialist himself describes the advent of the project as such, "I started the sartorialist simply to share photos of people that I saw on the streets of New York that I thought looked great. " it has since grown to depict well dressed people from all over the world, with a focus on the three prime fashion hubs: new york, milan and paris. nowhere else will you find fashion eye candy as simple and refreshing as this
from the term sartorial: of or pertaining to tailors or their trade: sartorial workmanship
the sartorialist has been selected as one of time magazine's top 100 design influences.

lookin-like-a-bun: scale
Sometimes, looking like a bun is just natural--you have similar coloring, fur texture, etc. But is there anything more to it? Yes. In this edition of lookin-lik-a-bun, we examine what it really takes to look like bunz, and it involves playing with scale.
Everyone knows, buns are usually the smallest of the animals. So, if you are the same size as the bun, there's an instant, noticable similarity. Secondly, it helps if you are even smaller than a bun, cause it really throws off the eye's game.
Case in point, the picture bellow. What's that bun and pups doing? Is that bun enormous or are those pups tiiiiiiny?

look at the pretty ponies!
Photographer Julian Wolkenstein said these photos emerged after he and a friend mused, "Hey, wouldn't it be funny to style horses hair?" After collecting enough hair extensions, Wolkenstein photographed three dolled-up horses.

In short, it is the kind of straightforward, thoughtfully conceived building that is all too rare in the city today. (nytimes)

no longer a southern republican/stodgy-old-
as a child my wardrobe was rounded out by two clip-on bow ties. one a pink and pastel blue madras bat wing, and the other a simple red bat wing, because that's what pee wee herman wore. cool.
bow tie lesson:
bowties are available pre-tied as clip-on or strap-around, but for the truly fashion conscious the self tied variety is a must. self-tied bow ties come in four shapes:
classic thistle
bat wing
butterfly
pointed
