park day!
it was park day with the harvills! we first went to fogey park in germantown (the one closest to both of our homes), only to discover that snob-antown has renovated the park and put in an automatic gate and is now charging 60 bucks a year for non-residents and requires a half hour orientation course before you can obtain a permit and access card. FAIL.
so screw germantown. we loaded back into the suburban, turned up zac and vanessa (HSM3), and headed to shelby farms dog and equestrian zone. shelby farms is the largest urban park in the nation, and has buffalo and a masterplan in development by field operations. there were millions of puppies and lakes and acres and acres of dog playtime. thanks city of memphis and thanks shelby farms. keep it green!

jay-z : blueprint 3
Jay-Z's The Blueprint came out on September 11, 2001, which is weird to think about. And now Jay-Z's The Blueprint 3 is in line for an eerily symmetrical date: the album is coming out September 11, 2009, reports Billboard. The album will be released on Jay-Z's own Roc Nation imprint, with distribution by Atlantic. As if there wasn't enough cosmic pressure on this album to deliver already. This record can't just be "better than The Blueprint 2." It has to be "almost as good as The Blueprint." A tall order. (pitchfork)

SALEM -- Usually politicians love the sound of their own voices. But not so when the topic is a proposed new law making it a sex crime to propel "a dangerous substance at another person."
That substance, as defined in House Bill 2478, includes semen, blood, urine or feces. (oregonian)

bun-bun's trip to knoxville
bun-bun spent the day in knoxville and sent me a few photos from his findings there:
they've also put up first-aid kits around the a+a, so you might have a chance of surviving an x-acto injury now!

you're fired, frank gehry.
Citing financial concerns, the developer of the long-delayed Atlantic Yards project in Brooklyn has scrapped plans for a Frank Gehry-designed $1 billion glass-walled basketball arena for the Nets in favor of a less expensive arena.
The new design, which will cost about $200 million less, comes from Ellerbe Becket, an architectural firm based in Kansas City, Mo., that specializes in convention centers, stadiums and arenas and designed Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, where the Indiana Pacers play. Officials who have seen the design say that while it resembles Conseco Fieldhouse it also bears a likeness to an “airplane hangar.” (nytimes)
