The patient was only slightly injured when he limped into a hospital in the northwest New Mexico city of Farmington. The only problem was, he was a dog.

When the automatic doors at San Juan Regional Medical Centre's emergency room slid open Saturday night, the pooch walked in, blood on his nose and paw, and a puncture hole in one leg, according to The Daily Times newspaper.

Animal control officer Robin Loev responded to a call from the hospital and suspects the puncture wound was from the bite of another dog.

Loev says the German shepherd mix appeared to be intelligent and calm - and knew enough to go to the right place.

The animal was taken to the Farmington Animal Shelter and claimed by its owner. (via)

great bear idea

"Bears have scent detection that is far superior to bloodhounds! Trained bears with GPS and day/night cameras around their necks might be able to hunt down the scent of UBL [Osama bin Laden], even in and through any caves and tunnels!!! Overnight, Parachute some bears into areas UBL might be. Attempt to train bears to take off parachutes after landing, or use parachutes that self-destruct after landing. "

it was 11 biscuits!! go see it if you like fun!

what did you do this weekend?

and speaking of movies, some friends and i decided to make good on our professed love for 2Pz fave meryl streep by getting acquainted with some of her older work. so on sunday, we planned a meryl-thon (i tried to make 'daylight STREEPing time' stick, but it just didn't). on the bill:

the deer hunter
this movie was a bit of a chore (especially the first hour), with disproportionate amount of meryl on-screen time, but once it got going it was pretty great. robert de niro was a looker back then, and christopher walken is in it, too! i'm hosting a russian roulette tournament at my house soon. let me know if you want to come! anyway, 7 or 8 biscuits.

sophie's choice
this movie takes place in 1940s brooklyn. meryl is a polish immigrant with crazy secrets. that's all i'm going to tell you. it's one of those 'surprise ending' movies. what's important is that meryl is just amazing in it. kevin kline is really good too. and he's my initials twin. DEF watch this if you haven't already. 11 biscuits!!!!!

doubt
after roughly 6 hours of movies, we just couldn't do it. i've seen this movie, and i gave it 11 biscuits. a meryl classic. lilly, did you watch yet?

we're already planning meryl-thon 2, which will most likely include some lighter choices:
out of africa
silkwood
the devil wears prada

i'll keep you posted.

what is your favorite meryl performance?

did you read this?

i didn't know that a movie was made based on stieg larsson's the girl with the dragon tattoo. i read that book! so did a lot of other people. it's pretty good. it's the first installment in his "millenium trilogy", which has quite an interesting irl backstory...

i'm looking forward to the movie, which is swedish (like the book), and being released in the US this week.

all she needed was a hug (and some trimmers)
