twitter

according to the new york times and new york magazine, twitter is now important (probably, maybe) thanks to the iran protests, and the inability of cable news and print media to give us all the information we are looking for.

with that kind of validation, i am pleased to announce the 2PzNaPpod twitter! follow us, and we will keep you updated with current posts, and other interesting tidbits.

you may remember the kids of staten island's PS 22 chorus from this post a while back. well, here they are again with a sweet rendition of lady gaga's 'just dance'. enjoy.

zoo tour, part one

while visiting friends in new orleans, i had the opportunity to get a backstage tour of the audubon nature institute with one of the zookeepers. it was AWESOME. im going to share with you some of the highlights in a series of zoo tour posts.

first we parked behind the zoo and waited by a back gate entrance for our tour guide. we were immediately escorted into a very tall metal building, not knowing exactly what to expect. these guys greeted us once we went through a couple locked gates

i have a new appreciation for giraffes. they are like deer that didnt stop growing. you have to be careful with giraffes in captivity though, because if they do the splits on a wet concrete floor they will break.

their grey tongues were about a mile long and felt like sandpaper.

this little guy is actually the largest bird in the world that is capable of flight. he was interested in what was going on with the herbivore biscuits so he came over to check us out. jerry doesnt seem to mind, but holly wasnt impressed. reminded me of THIS.

more of the new orleans zoo tour to come!

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The legislative aide of Republican Senator Diane Black of Gallatin said she received a letter of reprimand for sending a racist email but will stay on the job, although some lawmakers now want her fired.

The email includes a photo that depicts all the presidents of the United States with President Barack Obama in the lower right corner as a pair of eyes peering out of a black background.

Sherri Goforth on Monday confirmed she sent the email and repeatedly apologized for sending it to the "wrong list."

"I went on the wrong email and I inadvertently hit the wrong button," Goforth told Nashville is Talking. "I'm very sick about it, and it's one of those things I can't change or take back." (wkrn)

james corner, founder of landscape architecture firm, field operations, is profiled in NYT magazine's annual architecture issue. field operations worked with diller scofidio + renfro on the high line, and are now working on a park in memphis!

i dont really like any of his answers, but that dog is ceeeyute! some highlights:

TALE OF TWO CITIES: I am a professor at the University of Pennsylvania and practice in New York. I have an unspoken agreement with my wife and two daughters: I work hard during the week, and they leave me alone; at weekends, I am home.

FAVORITE ROOM:The bathroom is my sanctum. I retrofitted it with white marble. I wanted a really simple, open, light bathroom. When I walk in after a busy day and close the big, oak door, it is just wonderfully comforting.

FAVORITE PARK: One is tempted to say Central Park, because it is extraordinary throughout the seasons. But I think the grandeur of the gardens of the Versailles Palace outside Paris has a lot more of lasting interest to me.

FAVORITE MOVIE: “The Bourne Ultimatum.” It’s just so fast. It really is a movie that doesn’t have a wasted minute. It is so compelling to watch.I watch it again and again.

i dont think that's a saying...

i'm watching danielle, from the real housewive of new jersey, co-hosting the today show this morning. she just answered a question with:

"you know what they say, it's not how you spill a milk, it's the fashion which you clean it up."

i didn't know. that they say that.

raise your hand if you're excited for the SeAsOn FiNaLe tonight!!!
