just because

this also happened...

a zebra was loose on the streets of downtown atlanta...at 4:30. oh brother! did somebody say rush hour traffic? jeez louise! lima the zebra (that's racist!) was in town for the ringling brothers circus, and she got spooked.

this is a quote from mr. daniel nance who saw the zebra galloping (do zebras gallop?) through the streets of ATL near a MARTA station (more like FARTA station, am i right?) :

''all of a sudden a freaking zebra comes running down the street like a car...five or six police cars were in hot pursuit. and a bunch of officers on foot. but then I got scared, thinking ... what else is loose?''

what else indeed. (nothing else was loose)

also, jicydak, atlanta did not get it's crazy-loose-zebra cherry popped today. it happened once before, only 2 years ago! in 2008, a baby zebra was discovered on interstate 75 after, presumably, falling out of a truck and being hit by a car. that zebra was named 'evidence' because the cops kept referring to it as that (racist and rude).

but never fear, 'evidence' was taken to AuBuRn UnIvErSiTy'S vet school for care, and is living happily ever after at noah's ark animal rescue center in georgia. WAR EAGLE!!!

[ny times]

so this happened today...

a crazy man crashed his plane into a federal office building in austin texas. he was angry with the IRS. he also burned down his house on the way to the airport. [ap]

jack dawson enters shutter island

I don't get excited about a lot of premieres but I was really pumped to go to Shutter Island last night. I also don't have deep feelings towards Leo like a lot of people do, but he is a true movie star. He isn't in my top 5, but fo realsies dude can act. Although the trailer looks like it could be a horror movie, it is a psychological thriller that will leave you asking WTF?

I recommend spending your hard earned $12.50 on this movie, because it is one to see on the big screen. Thanks Marty Scorsese for another hit. And thanks Leo for being you. I am gonna go rent Romeo and Juliet this weekend.

11 biscuits

P.S. I also saw Remember Me tonight. No comment. Not because I an indifferent, but because I can't talk about it yet.

corgi sled ride!

"Maxwell" loves to ride on anything that moves. He wanted to ride with me on the sled, so I let him. He stayed on the sled after I got off. He rode by himself as I pulled him up the hill. When I turned the sled around, I picked up speed with the sled and he kept riding. He stayed on until it stopped in the snow. (via)

how is your skeleton?

proud beast.

gd, this day is long as hell.

kill some time with this reaction-time test. fun!

you're welcome!

With its enormous legs and lethal claws, this monster of the deep is already the biggest crab ever seen in Britain.

But astonishingly, the arthropod - which measures a staggering 10ft from claw to claw - is still growing, and could live until it is 100.

Nicknamed 'Crabzilla' after the fictional giant monster, the Japanese Spider Crab has a body the size of a basketball and its legs can straddle a car. They will eventually measure a massive 15ft. (via)

a quick olympics roundup

medal count:
1. United States 5 (gold) + 3 (silver) + 6 (bronze) = 14
2. Germany 3 + 4 + 3 =  10
3. France 2 + 1 + 4 = 7

look at this crazy dutch:

dutch speedskater sven kramer asks a reporter if she's stupid.

tonight's olympic tv:
Primetime: Evan Lysacek continues his quest for Figure Skating gold live (ET/CT) in the free skate (boring!). Also women's Snowboarding, Alpine Skiing and Speed Skating (1000m) (exciting!!!).

this french snowboarder's ridiculous moustache:

olympic insanity

did you hear about the final jump of the womens' alpine skiing course being completely insane?! so much so that they are now lowering the jump because its too dangerous!

3 women went down hard while running the course "for the first time at race speed" due to weather conditions. watch some videos here. they're pretty awesome. they just go flying into the air and you can actually see their surprise in their body motion when they don't come down as soon as they'd like.

i'm going to watch so much olympics tonight. i hope it's good stuff. i'll check it out and let you know.

and for john:

wait for it.

some morning grumbling.

2 things:

first thing: snow.

hey. snow. you better melt today. i'm real tired of having to step on you all day long. my irrational fear of black ice is making my walks miserable. it's supposed to be 40-ish today. you better not be here tomorrow, ok? or else.

second thing: vitamin water.

does it really have special powers? i have a hangover, and i want to feel normal again. i don't know why, but i felt like vitamin water might be the right move this morning. i spent a little bit too much time than anyone probably should reading through the various nonsensical labels, and settled on 'energy'.
when i placed it on the counter at hudson news, the lady looked right into my eyes and said 'it's going to be $3.26.", and i immediately began to question my values. in my compromised state, i couldn't stop myself from saying 'really?!!?' and giving her a confused, bitter look. then, of course, i paid her. everything she asked.

i drank it and i'm feeling a tiny little bit better. or am i? i hate this.

denny morrison

this canadian speed skater wasnt very good at the olympics earlier today, but he was very good at wearing that suit. HELLLOoooooo.
