put dolce in!
one of the perks of being unemployed is that you get to watch the french open on tv every day. maria sharapova is playing, and she hasnt won a single game yet (6-0, 4-0 at press time). her opponent, something about cibulkova, is hopping around all over the place and maria sharapova looks like she's about to take a nap right there on the clay.
joel is watching from the isle of manhattan and we were discussing that maybe maria sharapova should put her pomeranian, dolce, in to play in her stead. he's got plenty of pep.
side note:
in case you missed it this weekend, top-seeded 4-time french open champion rafael nadal got owned by 2Pz new fave, robyn soderling. it's not spelled like that, but he's swedish like robyn so that's how we'll be spelling it.

The world economy is in mid-swan dive. Wallets are in lockdown. So how does a company get people to feel just a little bit better about buying more stuff? (And perhaps burnish a brand that has taken some public relations lumps?)
Behold the new breed of corporate logo — non-threatening, reassuring, playful, even child-like. Not emblems of distant behemoths, but faces of friends. (nytimes)

i think its a great program funded mainly by the federal stimulus package that will put these kids to work for the summer, to keep them off the streets and keep them out of trouble, all the while teaching them skills that will service them in college or in a vocation.
but. what i love about the article is this picture... and that little boy with his tie, and the girl with the tude on the phone. ctm.
oh, parker!

this weekend, there was a heart-warming story of a pup named parker. he was real sick from generations of puppy mill in-breeding in north carolina. he had a lot of tooth problems, so they took most of them out. the doctors at dogtown fixed him right up, and he found a forever home with a nice statuesque woman. he also found a forever home in my heart.
