1) this guy rescued a wonderful australian puppy (aka kangaroo) from a rip tide in shark infested waters. includes interview and video of the rescue
2) this guy is a vet that does surgery on frogs and saved the life of one named victoria who was run over by a lawnmower. the frog survives, but turns out a little worse for wear. includes pictures of the frog surgery.

Staffers at the Max Fund Animal Adoption Center in Denver, Co. say she appears to be in no pain and is not suffering at all.
And there's good news - staffers at the Center found a loving home and a new owner for this very unusual and sweet kitten. (video at inside edition)thx sj.
chrysler lays off some dealers.
DETROIT — About a quarter of Chrysler’s dealers are receiving letters Thursday telling them that the company plans to eliminate them by June 9.
Chrysler, which filed for bankruptcy protection two weeks ago, sent letters to 789 of its 3,200 dealers revoking their franchises with the carmaker. It also filed a list of the dealers it is cutting in bankruptcy court Thursday.
Other dealers received letters welcoming them to the new Chrysler. (nytimes)

Could the space shuttle Atlantis, which grabbed hold of the Hubble Space Telescope on Wednesday, wind up parked on a pier in the Hudson River five blocks from Times Square? That is the pie in the sky for the operators of the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum.Museum officials have taken the first small step toward acquiring one of the three space shuttles that NASA plans to hand off when the shuttle program ends next year. They are enlisting support from elected officials and former astronauts for their idea of adding a decommissioned shuttle to the Intrepid’s eclectic collection of military aircraft, a Mercury space capsule, a submarine and a Concorde passenger jet.
