sustainability update

here at 2pz, we just love the environment, cant get enough of it actually (see that little leaf in our logo). we hope our readers feel the same way. nytimes has 2 really good articles about sustainable energy development, and there is no better platform than this blog to talk about economics, politics, science, and all that, so here goes.

of course they dont. the chinese government has declared their intention to be the biggest and best most renewable country on our stinking planet, and they are putting their msg soaked money where their mouth is. environmentalists may be pleased at the effort, but european and american companies that produce green technology are pissed. seems that the chinese are being bullies and spending tons of money on developing green energy projects, but only using chinese parts. they have all the best toys and they wont play with anyone else in the neighborhood. sheesh

the greedy bastards over at the richest oil company in the world just announced their intention to invest millions for research about oilgae, algae used to make biofuel. are they just trying to trick us by flashing their fancy green leafy algae biofuel in our face so we are tickled while they secretly sponge up oil and blow smoke all over the place? probably, but where else are you going to get serious private sector investments like this in alternative energy research. also, the biotech company they have partnered with was founded by J. Craig Venter, the same guy who decoded the human genome. how much science does one guy get in his brain. sheesh.
