a dream realized.

if you're in nyc this weekend, despite the horrendous weather we've been having, you might have noticed everywhere around you, things had a slight twinkle about them. as if the world were made of sparkly edward cullen vampire skin. and i'll tell you why. it's because 2Pz friend jenny cook is here.

jicydak, she's the author of one of our favorite blogs, staff meal, which features delightful tales from portland, often featuring delicious-looking food. last night, we had the privilege of hosting a wonderfully cozy dinner prepared by our guest of honor. we cleared our big table and used it for eating for the first time in the 2 years we've lived here.

among the delicacies was this amazing roasted cauliflower treat.

after a few incidents involving smoke pouring out of the fireplace and filling the apartment, brother ryland stepped in and handled the flue with the poise of a man-handed stripper with lavender adult braces, and the fire roared to life.

it was a wonderful night to be fireside with friends, new and old. thanks to jenny and ryland for all of their dinner prep. we'll have to do it again. maybe in portland next time.

one last thing:
aimee mann - wise up
