the developer for the palm islands, nakheel properties, laid off 500 people a few days after this lavish fireworks extravaganza. and i don't know why that building is anything to celebrate; it's exactly the same (ugly) as the one in the bahamas, except it has a moorish arch in the mids. dubai is dead...
