the voice report

it's the first week of "live playoffs". right now, every coach has 8 members. monday night, team adam and team blake all sang, and last night it was team gwen and team pharell. this is the first week america gets to vote (i did.), and tonight they announce 2 winners from each team. then each coach picks two more, leaving each team with 4. now you know everything.

so i'll tell you my favorite from each team, and tonight we'll see if i have what it takes to become america's next top voice-winner predictor.

team adam's best was...damien.

team blake's best was...james david.

team gwen's best was...anita!

and team pharell's best OF COURSE IT WAS ELYJUH OMG #TEAMELYJUH!!

honorable mentions to hat taylor and girl taylor.

is scotland anything?

did you know that the people of scotland are voting today to decide whether they remain part of the UK or become their own independent nation? isn't that so weird?
Those who favor independence argue that Scotland is politically and culturally alienated from a government in London dominated by the Conservatives and the power of money. Many in left-leaning Scotland say a yes vote would bring them not only autonomy but also a more Scandinavian-style social democracy — nuclear free and more equitable.
Some in the yes campaign seem to be making quasi-economic arguments of their own, selling Scotland as a socialist paradise of enhanced benefits fueled by endless amounts of North Sea oil and gas.
Yet the warnings of British and international economists are not easily dismissed. They tend to center on questions of the currency, budget deficits, energy resources and relatively lower growth in Scotland, as well as reduced clout in global affairs for a shrunken Britain.
Tight polls have many in Washington freshly alarmed, with the White House and many American heavyweights voicing strong support for keeping the United Kingdom together.
more scandinavian sounds good. need help deciding where you stand?

i can't wait to find out what happens!

if you're wondering who is winning, just look to the sky

CNN has partnered with the Empire State Building to tally electoral votes 1,454-feet in the sky, with lights: "As each state is projected by CNN and electoral votes are allocated to the candidates, a vertical LED-illuminated 'meter' located atop the spire of the building will display CNN's running tally of the race to 270," the network announced, although good luck calculating the actual numbers from that. Because the mast is only so large, it "will be lit in blue and in red on two sides each to represent President Obama and Gov. Romney's respective electoral vote totals," further complicating things. "When CNN projects a winner of the presidential election, the tower lights of the Empire State Building will change color to all-blue or to all-red." Then it will all make sense.
