This montage of Trump yearning for the "good ole' days" in @AVAETC's searing documentary "13th" is just devastating: pic.twitter.com/KtpJzbg4UN

“There are an unbelievable number of twists and turns in the story arc of Making a Murderer, it feels like it has to be fictional,” said Lisa Nishimura, Netflix VP of Original Documentary Programming. “Ricciardi and Demos have navigated very complex terrain and skillfully woven together an incredible series that leaves you feeling like youre right in the middle of the action.” (via)

REM is coming.
REM TEASER 2015 from tomas koolhaas on Vimeo.
Now three years in the making, Tomas Koolhaas' film will examine his father's incomparable ouvre of work through the eyes of the people that inhabit the designs, eschewing the high-brow and sometimes impenetrable discourse that usually surrounds the work of OMA for something more elemental. (via)

definitely going to see this with thomas wilhelm.
One of the most intriguing — and most discussed — films at this year’s Sundance Film Festival is a curious documentary called The Nightmare, which recounts and restages the experiences of various people who suffer from extreme forms of sleep paralysis. The subject is fascinating enough on its own, but The Nightmare was directed by Rodney Ascher, who made a splash at the 2012 festival with Room 237, his experimental documentary about different, out-there interpretations of Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining. As might be expected, The Nightmare, not unlike the previous film, is by turns playful, probing, and terrifying. (via)

the enclave
A few years ago we shared photographer Richard Mosse‘s unique infrared imagery that he had shot in The Democratic Republic of Congo for his series Infra. Taking advantage of an old type of Kodak film called Aerochrome, he infused new color into this war-torn and often forgotten part of the Earth.
Now he’s taken that project a step further by creating a documentary film called The Enclave. Shot entirely on 16mm Aerochrome film, the footage reveals both the unseen infrared bouncing off of the vegetation, and this too-often unseen “ongoing humanitarian disaster.” (via)thx grace!

what did i watch on netflix this weekend?
i watched the new netflix documentary from the director of the cove, called mission blue. it tells the life story of marine biologist and ocean-rights activist, dr. sylvia earle, aka my new fave #HBIC. and it's not just a history, she's also got a plan for saving us all. one (not real) word: hopespots.
i give it 11 biscuits!
the next doc i'm planning to watch is a paleontology thriller called dinosaur 13. it's in theaters right now, but it's also available on amazon prime and ondemand. let me know if you want to come over and watch with me.
