i know what you're thinking...

...being laid off must be like a dream come true. no alarm clocks waking you up in the morning, just relaxing sleep every day until you arise from your slumber naturally and peacefully, ready to take on another day of doing anything you want, without the burden of paychecks or the security of health insurance. well, you're wrong.

this is what goes on below my window every morning starting from 8am (sometimes they get antsy and jump in around 7.45am) until i give up on any chance of ever being happy again. what you might not be able to tell from this photo is that the bulldozer's favorite thing to do is slam its shovel down on those metal plates, and its second favorite thing is to push them around on the asphalt. you might also be interested to know that the bus in the bottom of the picture is what they call a 'kneeling bus'. that means it lowers itself down to the curb edge like a noble steed, emitting a sound that can only be likened to a moose giving birth to a chainsaw. two chainsaws. chainsaw twins. it stops by about every 10 minutes or so.

i dont know what i did to deserve this, but it helps to share.
