don't worry about kismet

my parent's house has not been cleared of all flood danger, but don't worry, i have discussed an emergency action plan with my mom.

we have decided that she should leave the kitchen chairs pulled out so kismet can jump up there and get on the table if the water sneaks in while she is at work.

next up, swimmin lessons.

emergency alert!

STOP EVERYTHING YOU'RE DOING. take that sprite out of your mouth.  are you sitting down? i have some alarming news. well, here it is.

there's something wrong with isabella swan. specifically, with her tail. please take a look at these photos:
see how everything looks great? specifically, her tail is pointing straight up.

now take a look at this:
see how everything is wrong? specifically, her tail is completely limp.

the long and short of it: melissa and craig thinks she has a little condition known as FLACCID TAIL SYNDROME.

the silver lining on the cloud's horizon: improvement?
"[today, it] looks a lot better. you can see she has a little hump which I think is a sign she's gettin better. she didn't have that at all yesterday." -melissa

thanks for keeping us abreast of bella's condition. i heard you shared this news with joel days ago, and he deemed it unimportant. do you ever feel like he doesn't pay you enough attention? i know i do.

anyway, we look forward to some positive updates. ISABELLA GET WELL!

chicago knows what they're doing.

did you hear about chicago's snowpocalypse the other day? they got like a bunch of windy snow, and it all happened so fast that hundreds of cars became almost immediately stranded on lake shore drive. drivers were trapped in their vehicles all night, as police wouldn't let anyone walk away. i guess they thought it was too cold. at first it seemed like a huge emergency management blunder, and it probably was. but the city is going the extra mile to make things right for everyone involved in this 'inconvenience'.
With 20 inches of snow and winds that hit 60 mph, the blizzard closed Lake Shore Drive for 34 hours. Overnight, the city plowed the snow, moved the stranded vehicles to six holding lots, then reopened Lake Shore about 5:50 a.m. this morning.
Unlike New York City, which became infamous for destroying its own vehicles during its blizzard, city officials set up this website to let owners know where they could find their towed cars and trucks. The city will even provide enough free fuel to get off the lot if the vehicles ran low while trapped. (via)
how nice.
