the approval matrix test

anyone who reads ny magazine knows that the approval matrix is an excellent indicator of how in-the-loop one is. each week, they place a selection of water-cooler-esque topics along a matrix according to the subject's taste-level and cultural significance. when i received my issue this week, i was pleasantly surprised to see that this blog had covered a number of approval matrix topics, mostly on the 'brillant' side.

then, for a good laugh read the comments about how this is all just an obama-al gore-socialist-BS-globalwarming misadventure.

robin hood may have been a jerk
A Scottish expert has uncovered a medieval document suggesting negative attitudes towards Robin Hood.
The story of how Robin and his men stole from the rich to give to the poor has long been part of English folklore.
However, Julian Luxford of St Andrews University found a dissenting voice in a Latin inscription from about 1460 in a manuscript owned by Eton College. (bbc news)
