don't be hot-dogging

LENOIR CITY — Tennessee quarterback Tyler Bray is scheduled in court today over a boating incident.
According to Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency officer Dewayne Williams, Bray was driving a Jet Ski with a woman passenger when he was observed by Williams "hot dogging" with another Jet Ski.

sure!

"Let’s face it – the 4th of July is the best day of the year. We get to celebrate our Nation’s history and reminisce on what makes this place so great. The only thing that would make it better is some Vols spirit! Grab the Patriotic Seal tee to boast your love of the Tennessee Volunteers and the good ol’ US of A. This classic tee features a Tennessee wordmark set in front of a patriotic seal, combining your two passions into one superior shirt!"

that's just true. no arguments here.

want one?

large orange.

everybody beat me to the research from the alumni email, so i'll just let y'all know that i'm sitting at my desk, doing my school work, decked out in an orange polo and a tennessee hat. i will have orange on everyday for a while, and you should, too. pat forde issued a challenge today:

"Florida-Tennessee (17). For much of the 1990s, this was the marquee regular-season game in the SEC. Spurrier vs. Fulmer, Wuerffel vs. Manning, one national title apiece (1996 for the Gators, '98 for the Volunteers). Tennessee hasn't kept up its end of the bargain lately, losing six straight to Florida and slipping out of the league's elite. But the game could matter again as soon as Saturday, when they meet in The Swamp. Vols fans are feeling optimistic, and the Gators look ready to rebound from last year's 8-5 pratfall."

also, i have it on good authority that someone will be unveiling the above tramp stamp on saturday at the nyc tailgate party

Triumphant

jicydak, the Volunteers routed the montana griz yesterday after a long weather delay. i watched it a bar in new haven called black bear saloon. it would be a great tennessee bar if it were in new york city. for those that didn't see the georgia game, your eyes should thank you. i was debating with sugardust/starla/char about whether the game or the uniforms were uglier.

7 days y'all!

I was perusing utsports.com when I came across Dwight's Insights, a blog that has potential to be really entertaining or boring as hell for the next couple of years. Dwight is an international student athlete from the Bahamas (not terribly exotic). His first post happen to go up the day Pat Summitt announced her diagnosis. To quote a quote of a twitter (because it was my favorite line from the post, "Knowing what we all know about Coach Summitt, I almost feel sorry for the Dementia." (from @drvenner)

I really just wanted to say Go Vols, and that Georgia sucks. I hope they lose. But I also hope they win big next Saturday so that Boise State will have to shut the hell up all season long.

the football player, not the bike

Photo
got into a little trouble yesterday had someone use his name and picture without permission. berry supposedly was promoting and hosting a porn party in miami, but i have it in good authority that he was doing media promotions in kansas city.

my friend ashley (think kylie and joel close) is the director of marketing for A3. here is our g chat from yesterday explaining everything:

Ashley: ive been dealing with a porn scandal all day
me: ctm
who?
Ashley: http://www.arrowheadpride.com/2011/6/15/2225207/eric-berry-porn-party-nfl
me: he's an athlete
who cares? so did he go?
Ashley: no he was in KC with me
its just bad pr
me: hahaha
Ashley: it was honestly the exact opposite of a porn party
me: so the book signing alibi is true?
Ashley: yep
he did in studio media all day friday in KC...
me: can you get mentioned by name in a story?
that be great
Ashley: ha we usually quote Chad, but maybe
me: i know, but it should say "eric was with kerns at a media event in kc"
Ashley: ha
me: throw in kerns, director of marketing for a3,
Ashley: ill have him say that it in interviews... i was eating pancakes with Kerns in KC
which is true

there you have it. eric berry and kerns sharing pancakes in kc. nothing scandalous there.

09 June 2011

that makes sense

Joan Cronan got a big promotion. She's done a great job with our lady vols and now she will oversee the entire athletic department. We will still hire a men's athletic director, but if I understand the set-up, which I don't, then Joan will be his/her boss. And look who is potentially interested.

It's a 2pz dilemma!

this is a terrible picture of a map that documents the trip between Mouth of D.H. and Neyland Stadium. the trip takes google 3 hours and 9 minutes.

Here's the dilemma. We have a super scrimmage (3 games in one afternoon) somewhere in N.C. on Saturday. I won't get back to school until maybe 7 or 8 which puts me in fort knoxville around 11. Do I Titan Up and make the drive? BrownBear in mind that i will have driven a short bus for 5 hours and asst. coached 3 games.

you know the answer.

See you in Knoxville.

20 September 2010

vols, duh.

i went to knoxville this weekend for the game between the university of tennessee volunteers and the florida technical community college alligators. it was a good time to be had by all. i will post a bunch of pictures now that will make y'all want to join me next time. we started the day at the gaylord's house (above).
captain mark

some of the ladies

some of the guys. the guy in the iowa shirt is dating a tennessee friend. he conceded that the game was the loudest sporting event he'd ever been to and acknowledged the sec as far superior to the big 11.

there was some beautiful scenery along the 22 mile trip upstream to the game, like this giant flag. and some cliffs and stuff.

pretty much every tennessee grad has a house like this because were all so smart.

more cliffs!
boat traffic; we're getting close!

downtown knoxville! we've arrived. stay tuned for more on the vol navy and the neyland renovations tomorrow.
