Some people dream of playing in front of 40,000 fans, at Tennessee we practice in front of 40,000 fans! #Unbelievable

i don't know what that person's talking about, i've never heard anyone say a bad word about a vol fan in all my life.in related news, the AP preseason rankings were released over the weekend, and there are some compelling statistics regarding #SECdominance. 8 of 14 SEC teams are in the top 25, and tennessee has to play six top-25 teams in our 12-game season. kinda makes me just wanna lay down.
here's a summary including only the teams you might care about:
1 florida state (whom?)noticeably / inexplicably absent from the list are the tennessee volunteers. #brickbybrick #risetothetop #2015nationalchampions
2 alabama (never heard of her)
4 oklahoma (the vols face them on #10AICC day, gulp.)
6 auburn
9 south carolina
12 georgia (that shouldn't last long)
13 LS-poo
18 ole piss
21 texas a&m
24 misery

3 DAYS!!!!
y'all, it's almost here. if you'd like to read a hopeful take on our 2012 season prospects, try this article on for size:
Justin Hunter was the best pass-catcher on the team until his early-season knee injury in 2011. Nearly 12 months later, he's back on the field and close to 100 percent. Two-time JUCO All-American wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson will also be reeling in catches, though he'll have to pick up the offense quicker than planned now.
Rajion Neal saw an opening at tailback and seized it. He outworked, out-practiced and out-scrimmaged Marlin Lane for the top spot. Lane was as sure a starter as any Volunteer in spring, but Neal showed the kind of fight that the Volunteers have lacked the past two seasons. Maybe he can be the spark for the running game.
The offensive line is extremely experienced and terrific at pass blocking, giving up the fewest sacks of any SEC team in 2011. The unit needs to improve its run blocking this year but should find that easier if the passing game can put up early points.
And then there's Tyler Bray. (via)

here's your first glimpse...
...at the 2013 national championship team.
the best thing about the orange-and-white game, which took place this weekend, is that tennessee never loses!
lookin' real good, diane lane!

love ya, pat.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Well, sure, it had to end this way Sunday. The same way the SEC women's basketball tournament had ended 15 times previously: with Tennessee coach Pat Summitt holding the trophy.
The second-seeded Lady Vols -- who lost four games during SEC regular-season play -- were not to be denied here in middle Tennessee, not that far from where Summitt grew up. They beat No. 4 seed LSU 70-58 at Bridgestone Arena, to the delight of the orange-clad among the 12,441 fans in attendance. Which was the bulk of the crowd.
They cheered Summitt at every opportunity -- when she walked in, when she got up to chastise the referees, when her picture was flashed on the giant video screen. And when the game ended, a spontaneous chant of "We love Pat!" swept through the arena.
Of course they love her. Summitt has spent her entire life in Tennessee, and no one has better symbolized consistent excellence for any university than she has. Sunday's victory meant Tennessee now has a "Sweet 16" collection of SEC championship trophies. (via)see you in the final four, ladies!

georgia really does suck
Tennessee has handed Mark Richt two of his worst losses in his last two trips there.ATHENS, Ga. -- Georgia Bulldogs players and coaches would love to forget their last two trips to Knoxville, Tenn. But some losses leave marks that just don't go away when the bruises heal. The last two games Georgia played against the Volunteers in Neyland Stadium found the Bulldogs being outscored 80-33. The point disparity was not the only painful memory.
not that you need espn to tell you that.

Right Now!

The Tennessee Volunteers on whooping up on the Alabama Crimson Turds. ESPNClassic is showing the 1997 game that we won on our way to winning the SEC Championship. Peyton is looking pretty good, as are Peerless Price, Marcus Nash, Jamal Lewis, Jermaine Copeland. We are currently winning 31-14 early in the 4th quarter. Keep your fingers crossed that we don't blow it!
UPDATE
We won 38-21! And during the telecast they played a country song that said "Peyton Manning, we love you, just like Archie and Olivia do, we love you" or some shit like that. I tried to google it, and google did not help. If you know or can find who croons those lyrics, I will be indebted to you.

sure am proud.
Given all that, you hardly expected Michigan State to be able to summon a great -- not merely good -- performance. But they did, because they had to. It took greatness to beat Tennessee on Sunday. (via)
