Remember when we told you

about how the bees in Brooklyn were getting drunk and turning red from drinking too much cherry juice at the maraschino factory in Red Hook? Well the feds must have been listening, and things did not turn out so well for the maraschino factory owner. 

Inside the cherry factory, they found a hidden room with 80 pounds of weed, fancy cars, tons of cash and bees that were stoned out of their minds. According to this, that was when Mr. Maraschino said excuse me and went to go shoot himself in the head with the gun he kept in an ankle holster. Sheeeeeyut.

new york state is about to have the strictest gun laws in the country.

Cuomo pushed hard for the bill following the Sandy Hook Elementary school shooting just one month ago. And on the first full day of the new session, he got his wish—even waiving a normal three-day waiting period for votes on new bills. The bill will expand on the state's pre-existing assault weapons ban and also outlaws guns with any "military-style features." People who already own such guns can keep them, but must register their weapons with the state. It will also add new tracking measures for ammunition dealers and bullet sales.

It also puts new purchase restriction on people who are deemed mentally ill. In a potentially controversial change, health officials must now report patients they believe to be a danger to others, and such reporting would authorize police to confiscate any firearm those patients already own. The concern is that gun-owning patients won't seek treatment out of fear they will lose their weapons. (via)

turning guns into grizzlies tickets

During a Saturday event at Bloomfield Baptist Church, the city and its partners in the effort will hand over a $50 Mapco gas card for every gun a person turns in, up to a limit of three guns, or $150 in free gas, per person. Everyone who turns in a gun will also get two free tickets to a pre-season Memphis Grizzlies game. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. 

The guns will be received on a "no questions asked" basis and later destroyed, though members of the Memphis Police Department's Firearms Training Unit will be present.
