i think there is a CLEAR choice to make here

i cant imagine cheering for any of these disasters, with one notable exception. that bear is CUTE!
i think it was a big mistake to put the landshark in a greg norman hat. and the hotty totty reb looks like a roided out baseball player. the commercial appeal has a little more information about this shit show.

oh hell no

this sailor was fishing with his friends and jumped off the boat to swim to shore when the boat broke down. he was never heard from again.
a week later an investment banker was shark hunting (natch) and caught one with a leg hanging out of his mouth. it was the damn sailor inside of the shark!
oh hell no.

new mascot for Ole Miss

you know that the university of mississippi (the harvard of the south) finally decided that their mascot was a little racist, and that they should pick a new one. they are still going to be the rebels, but arent going to have a cartoon plantation owner (slave beater) running around on the football field. they narrowed it down to five choices:
a) horse
b) land shark
c) hotty and toddy
d) lion
e) bear
what do you think? i think you know what i think.

there better be sharks. and lots of them.
Jerry Shefsky, a Toronto-based developer, said on Wednesday that he has signed a preliminary agreement with the landlord of an office tower on the western edge of Times Square to go forward with the $100 million project. He would install tanks featuring sharks, rays, penguins, otters, and other animals in the bottom floors of the 40-story building, known as 11 Times Square, hoping to attract some of the 35 million people who pass through Manhattan's major crossroads every year.
Mr. Shefsky, 76 years old, has built aquariums and shopping centers around the world. He cautioned in an interview that the lease agreement for 11 Times Square isn't yet final. But he said he may start building out the space as early as this April with the hope of opening the aquarium in September 2011. (via)

no thank you!
Flaring the gills that give the species its name, a frilled shark swims at Japan's Awashima Marine Park on Sunday, January 21, 2007. Sightings of living frilled sharks are rare, because the fish generally remain thousands of feet beneath the water's surface.
Spotted by a fisher on January 21, this 5.3-foot (160-centimeter) shark was transferred to the marine park, where it was placed in a seawater pool.
"We think it may have come to the surface because it was sick, or else it was weakened because it was in shallow waters," a park official told the Reuters news service. But the truth may never be known, since the "living fossil" died hours after it was caught. (via)

sharks are gross
this one had some babies in her and another shark bit her and the babies came out of her through the bite hole. seeeeyuck.
aquarium staff is all like, oh its a good thing because if she had given birth naturally the other sharks would have probably eaten the babies. yep.
