Probably not.
My Bank is hosting it's first WOW-lympics and as the new blood, I was recruited to spear head our skit.

Does anyone have $18,000 they can lend/give me?

bc there is a Grand Budapest Hotel cruise screening on the Queen Mary 2 with people like Wes Anderson, Tilda Swinton, and Jason Schwartzman. It leaves from New York and ends in London. And they'll probably serve great food and you get to play shuffleboard with Tilda Swinton. The only thing is it costs at minimum $1,200 and maximum like $18k. But it's totally worth it to see this face:

2pzGifGuide - Bonus Round for Classy 2Pz Gif Givers

(perhaps only Thomas Wilhelm is in this demographic)
Marking the only time buying books online saves a real live bookstore, the St. Mark's Bookshop is hosting an online auction to raise funds for their future move out of a pricey space owned by Cooper Union. Up on the auction block are signed books from classy New York authors like Junot Diaz, Paul Auster, Patti Smith, and David Byrne. Perfect for your favorite Rockefeller or Astor descendant. Just don't bid on that signed copy of Maus by Art Spiegelman, because I've got my eye on it.

beyonce says: "48 days until the election"
last night Beyonce and Jay Z hosted a $40,000 per plate fundraiser at the 40/40 club last night
He also noted that first lady Michelle and his daughters Malia and Sasha were mad at him because they could not make it to the fundraiser on a school night. Obama thanked both stars for their generosity toward his children and singled out Beyoncé for being a good example to the girls.
"Beyoncé could not be a better role model for our daughters because she carries herself with such class and poise," he said. "And has so much talent."

Geniuses
The Macarthur Fellows have been announced! Mostly it's a snooze-fest except for one of my favorite NPR hosts: Jad Abumrad! Congrats! Listen to Radiolab podcasts here, and read about the other genius fellows here. $500,000 over five years to spend as he sees fit. Maybe get some new shirts... Sucks to be Robert Krulwich, amiright?

debt ceiling information

just as i suspected. thank you liberal media for confirming my liberal bias.
go for it barry!
James Fallows writes: “The Chart That Should Accompany All Discussions of the Debt Ceiling: It’s this one, from yesterday’s New York Times…It’s based on data from the Congressional Budget Office and the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities. Its significance is not partisan (who’s “to blame” for the deficit) but intellectual. It demonstrates the utter incoherence of being very concerned about a structural federal deficit but ruling out of consideration the policy that was largest single contributor to that deficit, namely the Bush-era tax cuts.”
It’s also worth noting that the debt ceiling was raised by $4 trillion under Bush without incident, and Speaker John Boehner, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell approved each of the five increases.

john's counterfeit penny

i heard a story at some point over the past couple weeks about john getting a counterfeit penny with some sort of shield on the the back of it. i was confused because why would anyone ever go the trouble to make a fake penny. it already costs more to fabicate a one cent piece then the value of the currency itself. anyway, turns out john threw away real money. i bet he really regrets that now. think of all he could have accomplished with that penny. more info on the redesign here. via.
