do you need a reason to cheer for #VFL peyton manning in the super bowl?
this article contains about a million:
I never completely comprehended the limitations his cervical spine injury and the legacy of four surgeries imposed on him. Prior to surgery, the neurologic damage to his throwing arm led him to be unable to throw an eight yard pass. After the surgery, his pain was better, but his nerve damage persisted. His coaches and trainers were scared for him. According to Jenkins, his former offensive coordinator at Tennessee said,
“He was so out of whack, I had to ask him to quit throwing. He was on his way to hurting himself…He had to rebuild his mechanics from the ground up. He had to relearn everything.”
Manning and everyone around him couldn’t help but think that perhaps he would never recover. And to add insult to injury, in the midst of this physical and emotional crisis, the Indianapolis Colts cut him. The Super Bowl winner and living legend was released from the team he never wanted to leave. Peyton would graciously thank his owners, his team and his fans, he would move to Denver, and he would come back. Incredibly. (via)and FYI, we here at 2Pz generally pick our super bowl favorite using the scientific which-team-has-the-most-vols formula. here are the results:
2014 Robert Ayers DL Denver Super Bowl XLVIIIbroncos win 4-1. pretty definitive!
2014 Britton Colquitt P Denver Super Bowl XLVIII
2014 Malik Jackson DL Denver Super Bowl XLVIII
2014 Peyton Manning QB Denver Super Bowl XLVIII
2014 Tony McDaniel DL Seattle Super Bowl XLVIII

more Grizzlies news: Peyton Manning wants in
Last time we talked about new minority owners of the Memphis Grizzlies, we had just heard about Justin Timberlake buying a piece of the best NBA team in the world. This time word on the internet is that former Tennessee Volunteer Peyton Manning is getting in on the action. Peyton's wife Ashley Manning (nee Thompson) is from Memphis so it isn't totally out of the blue. In order to really compete with the Nets' Jay Z buzz, I think the next announcement needs to be that Juicy J or Gangsta Boo are buying some Grizzlies. Rapper owners.

As the Denver Broncos wait to hear from Peyton Manning, the Tennessee Titans have emerged as a strong competitor for the superstar quarterback.
Manning, who is also considering the Cardinals and Dolphins, is meeting with the Titans’ brass and then he is expected to make a decision on his future. There has been recent chatter that Manning may be swayed to stay in the AFC South and play for the Titans. Wednesday, Manning’s former boss didn’t do anything to end that talk.
Former Indianapolis general manager and current ESPN analyst Bill Polian said on "SportsCenter" that he thinks the Titans are the most logical landing spot for Manning. Polian cited that Manning and his wife, Ashley, have ties to the state. Manning was a legendary quarterback at the University of Tennessee.
So, location could be a big stumbling block for John Elway. This doesn’t mean Manning won’t be a Bronco, but the Titans may have an emotional edge. Whatever happens, I’m sure the Broncos want a resolution so they can proceed with the rest of their free-agency plan, regardless of the outcome of the Manning sweepstakes. (via)

i want to go to there.
omg y'all, please check out the aMaZiNg video here, depicting the design for the vols' new football training center. it's ridiculously fancy, and is sure to convince all the best players to come play on our team. the video is awesomely over the top, featuring phrases like "multi-level thunderdome of power". and peyton manning is getting his own room!
does anyone know what architecture firm is responsible for this?

Right Now!

The Tennessee Volunteers on whooping up on the Alabama Crimson Turds. ESPNClassic is showing the 1997 game that we won on our way to winning the SEC Championship. Peyton is looking pretty good, as are Peerless Price, Marcus Nash, Jamal Lewis, Jermaine Copeland. We are currently winning 31-14 early in the 4th quarter. Keep your fingers crossed that we don't blow it!
UPDATE
We won 38-21! And during the telecast they played a country song that said "Peyton Manning, we love you, just like Archie and Olivia do, we love you" or some shit like that. I tried to google it, and google did not help. If you know or can find who croons those lyrics, I will be indebted to you.

this is going to be good.
congratulations to the new orleans saints and the indiana ponies on making it to the super bowl. as g.animalz astutley pointed out, it will be good because it's 2 southern teams. gulp.
this year, i'm going to pull for the saints for a number of reasons. for one, they've never even been to the super bowl before! and you know how they got h8-e'd a while back, so they could use all the city pride they can get.
secondly, i know that the colts have the ultimate former volunteer for a quarterback, but i was happy to see some of my favorite vols, jabari greer and robert meachem (look how cute!) making some great plays and representing the university of tennessee admirably.
all of this being said, there is one saint that won my heart above all the others, and his name is gumbo. he's the saints' puppy mascot, and he is a saint bernard (like the parish!). keep an eye out for him during the super bowl, though i'm sure you won't have to look very hard. he's a show-stealer. here are some stats:
Name: GUMBO
Breed: St. Bernard
Number: #00
Age: 42 (that's 294 in dog years)
Hometown: New Orleans, LA
Height: 9 Paws (that's 7 feet)
Weight: "How Rude!"
see you in miami, gumbo!
