No fun pictures or video, but I'm sharing this because I lived in the Cottonwood subdivision back in the day. If my family hadn't moved from there (22 years ago), we would be flurded out.
FRANKLIN, Tenn. – Dumpsters dot the Cottonwood subdivision with ductwork, insulation, mattresses and kitchen sinks piled in front of houses. The sound of hammers ripping up sodden floors and fans set at high hum through the air. read more

introductions necessary: kamera kat
Hello! G.AnimalZ, here. I'm writing to make a very special introduction for 2PZ readers. Meet: Kamera Kat, otherwise known as Photographer Cat, otherwise known as Cooper.
Cooper is a lil orange feller who gets to live an indoors/outdoors lifestyle over in Seattle, WA. Once a week his brilliant (sadistic?) owners strap a camera around his aching neck. The camera takes pixies every 2 minutes, documenting is day.
What holds his attention? Whom does he meet? Does he get into trubz? You can KLEEEEK through his photogallery on flickr and find out.
Recently his's been sporting a video camie, so thats exciting.
Here is some of his best work:
His owners/tormenters. His first picture!
Naturez.
Dogs are so dumb. Am I right? Am I right?--that's prolly what he's thinking right here.
A friend he made who lives under a car (prolly because of that hair cute!).
Egg head.
He's getting lots of press so you should keep him on your radar in case it comes up at your next party. And, if you feel so inclined, you can check out his next gallery show, at Seattle's Urban Light Studios this Sunday, May 9th. You might also get a chance to get on teeeeeveeee, as a video crew from Animal Planet will be there.
PSST: Here's his baby picture--going to make him so emBEARassed!

protesting puppy

the guardian has a slideshow of 14 different images of this same dog at different protests in Greece, taken over the course of the past two years. This dog is militant and not afraid to subvert the dominant paradigm.
they call him Kanellos, but I'm going to rename him Harvey Milk Drinker.
big mistake, scientist.
these ballsy scientists have the nerve to speculate that maybe the rarely encountered colossal squid isn't as agile and terrifying as modern depictions might suggest:
The colossal squid, a creature once linked to maritime myth and feared as a sea monster, is really a slow drifting animal that ambushes unwitting prey.
That conclusion was reached by studying the physiology and feeding habits of other deep sea species and scaling up to the colossal squid's huge size. (via)
well, i'd speculate that that scientist will be singing a different tune when he's being sawed in half by a colossal squid beak. what's that, scientist? you never saw it coming? that's right. look where all those physiology studies got you. up shit's creak and in a squid's mouth.
don't trust it. thx g.

"Color Your World" is an outreach program/ marketing ploy by this paint company. They go around and secure community support to add bold colors to otherwise drab locations. The motives are dubious, but the results speak for themselves. via.

A visualisation of the northern European airspace returning to use after being closed due to volcanic ash. Due to varying ash density across Europe, the first flights can be seen in some areas on the 18th and by the 20th everywhere is open. (via)
