speaking of cornhole...

 ...i forgot to tell you about it!

by now i'm sure you've studied the photos on facebook carefully, but here are a few anecdotes to help you feel like you were there, jic you weren't.

firstly, beeun metz traveled all the way from tennessee. we got got warmed up and stretched our livers the night before at benny's burritos. here he is with a world famous bulldog.

TOMS : the official shoe of the 3rd annual cornhole tournament. we all have matching foot-tan-lines to show for it!

this is definitely my fave photo of the day. sideline ladies!

it was a hard fought battle all day, and peanut butter jelly time came out on top.

we wrapped up with closing ceremonies: spraying champagne (or in this case, bud light), waving the american flag, drinking from the cornhole cup, and doin' the ol' softshoe to 'dixieland delight'.

and no bhp party would be complete without a living room dance party.

in closing, we had just a great time. thanks to everyone who came. and thanks to g.animalz, mer, and nscience for the photos! see y'all at the 4th annual in a couple a months!

the 6th annual international cornhole cup : REGISTRATION DAY!!!!11

we're one month out from the 6th annual international cornhole cup, and we are opening up the registration today! if you will be in the new york metropolitan area on may 19th (armed forces day), you're going to want to be involved in this. here are the deets:

Come to eat, drink, hangout.You can sign up (see below) in teams of two, or enter yourself in the single and looking category and we will set you up with your perfect cornhole match. As always, day of registrants will be accepted as bracket space allows.

Your small registration fee of $10 per entrant will go to fund the extra surprises we have in store to properly celebrate 6 years of causing trouble on Brooklyn rooftops. You can expect keg beer, America-positive decorations, food, special prizes, and a surprise performance by Sinead O'Connor (the surprise is that the performance is in Montclair, NJ).

Chapter Four - Tuesday June 23 + Wednesday June 24

This is it! I was down to the wire to finish these m'effers for the big Wednesday night cornhole grill out / my eleventh going away party. There was a lot of clean-up effort in these two days that you are not going to realize without maximizing these pics to check the deets. Seen below is the blue board right after the Gray innards app:



Looking closely, you can see the Yellow and Gray elements got a little messy under the stencils. Also, the stripes ran a bit under the masking tape, and the blue board had some kind of ghostly giveaway left and south of cornhole. Cleaning up all this mess was pretty time consuming, I spent the better part of each day hunched over with a hobby brush. But, in the end, they came out just perfect!

And finally, the big group demo! Seen here from left to right are Joe, Angeler, Lee, Jwad, Ben, Kyle (throwing), Matt, B-rad, Phil-YF, and my vacated position at the yella board.



All said and done, Kyle and I ran another undefeated evening, shutting down Phil and Joe 21-13, Chavez and Lee 21-10, and Matt and Jwad 21-17. Here's Kyle finta lay more waste. (Joe was manning the chalk board)



So that about wraps 'er up. At the commencement of last evenings events I formally handed these boards over benjametz. He gracefully accepted the position of keeper and primary caretaker, but I made it clear that the boards are to be maintained as public property, accessible to all yall-stars, come one, come all. I'm gonna miss you guys! Love ya mean it.

just had a phone conference with my custom cornhole fabricator, the original threadsecutioner, patty halley. here's a sneak peak of the bags he's sewing as we speak.

jicydak, he's launched a new business venture headquartered in portland, oregon. it's called cornhole cooperative, and he does amazing work on custom cornhole boards with beautiful graphics. if you're in need of some equipment, he's got the 2Pz endorsement. and he ships all over!

the 5th annual international cornhole cup tournament has been scheduled! jicydak, it will be taking place next saturday, august 20th at jOeL's HiZziE!!!

2Pz friend and owner/operator of cornhole cooperative, patty halley, has posted a timely item:

an official rulesheet. this will answer all your questions concernig cornholes, dirty pillahs, rim jobs, etc.

now that you're all in the mood to play, sign up for the tournament! you won't win, as the city (me 'n starla) will be dominating, but you'll have a lot of fun!!

i left my heart at the fancy acre.

over the weekend, g.animalz and i ran screaming from the heat wave, all the way to sunny portland, oregon, to visit jenny and kevin at the fancy acre! would you like to hear a little about that? thought so.

the first thing you should know is that the acre recently acquired a brand new family member. his name is royal, and he is a tiny bear cub pomeranian.

here he is joining his roommates, patsy, loretta, and wynonna for a hearty breakfast of chicken feed. 

the second thing you should know is that despite what royal might tell you, he is not the boss. that title goes to mr. jacky scrapple. he likes to wear t-shirts, and he recently lost his signature snaggletooth. lucky for him, he has three more huge fangs left, and now his tongue has a bit more room to spread out (of his mouth).

i was lucky enough to get the fanciest room on the acre.

more about the chickens: they lay eggs! loretta and wynonna are pretty cool about it, and put them in the coop where they belong, but patsy's kind of a b. she thinks she's special because her eggs are blue, and she hides them under things all around the yard. i tried to help find them, but i wasn't very good at it. anyway, jenny basically made us a whole breakfast from chicken eggs and vegetables from their amazing garden. it was pretty fancy.

while we ate breakfast, we noticed a pretty loud buzzing sound. jenny and kevin just got some bees and a beehive, and a wild swarm showed up to make friends with them. there was like a million.

i could just go on and on about the wonders of the fancy acre forever. we also went on some adventures! for example, we took royal and jacky to peewee puppy play group at the dog park.

we floated down this river.

omg, remember patrick halley? he lives in portland, too! i forgot to take a picture of him, but he came over for our big green egg pizza cookout, and brought his beautiful cornhole boards. he also dropped off the new set of bags i ordered from the cornhole cooperative. aren't they gorge?

we visited kevin's world famous biscuit establishment, pine state biscuits. drool!!

ryan and i played some golf.

on my last night, we dined at park kitchen, which jenny is pretty much the boss of. i can't begin to describe what an enjoyable tasting menu flavor journey we were plied with. god. so good.

sadly, after that meal, it was time for me to head to the airport. i had such an amazing time (thx jenny, kevin, jacky and royal for being just the best hosts!). can't wait to visit again VERY soon.

wikihow to paint some pimp cornhole boards, pt.1

Hey yaw, so, since becoming youple I have been spending my time on various projects around the house, some unmentionable, some totes pimp. Most recently, I've undertaken the renovation of our beloved exposed plywood cornhole boards with a steezy Nashville Predators paint scheme.

Chapter One - Wednesday June 17



I began with a base coat of spray paint, one board blue, the other yellow. Next, I applied the background of each logo using a predators stencil printed by ben on billable paper. The base coat exhausted my spray paint, so I had to run out da sto' to snatch up some traditional paint to finish the job (notice the yellow was a bit brighter, the blue a tad blue'er).



Stencils removed, this was where I left off on Wednesday.

coooooornhole: beanbag edition.

Inspired by the warmth a few weeks ago, A-ron and I built cornhole boards.

First, we sanded and stained



















Then, we printed out images and traced them with carbon paper.
















Then we painted two of the most beautiful college logos of all time and laquered the boards to seal the images. The result, two gorgeous cornhole playing surfaces, and hours of fun.

Chapter Three - Friday June 19 + Monday June 22

So the innards of the Pred logo contain Blue, Yellow and Gray elements. The blue got throwed down on Thursday, and here is the yellow, after the first coat:



To prevent running, I applied only one coat of paint through the stencil, let it dry, removed the stencil, and applied the second / third coats with the hobby brush free-hand. Here you can see the final coat of yellow:



If you look closely you can see that Blue and White touch-up are still needed. I will save that for last, after I have painted the Gray elements. Pictured here be the Gray stencil waitin for the money:

Amy and I joined a cornhole league that starts next week. Yesterday, we received an email with the schedule and the names of the other 31 teams.
Here are some high and lowlights.

Some of the worst: "Team Gates" (boooorrrring), "Beanbag Puns are Corny" (no fun), "Annie and Andrew" (G.M.A.B!)

tales from the south : kt + beeun's

friday night, my atlanta trip got postponed, so i hopped on up to east nashville to see 2Pz friends and yallstarz, katie and ben! you probably know them. they were grillin' up a storm.

remember patty halley's cornhole boards? well, they live here, and i got a close, first-hand look at them. they're gorgeous.

here's what dinner looked like. beautiful!

Chapter Two - Thursday June 18

After laying down the logo backgrounds on each board, I x-acto'd another stencil for the white inner portion of the Pred. As I didn't have any normal white paint, I had to use spray paint, which not only ruined the stencil but bled extensively under the stencil over my previous work. Unforgivable.



So I had to whip out a tiny lil hobby brush for clean up.



After covering up the white over-spray, I cut out a third stencil for the inner blue areas of the Pred. This time I applied the paint with the hobby brush and the outcome was a lot cleaner.



In the meantime, whilst letting the logos dry, I applied the six inch stripes down the centers of each board. On both boards, the two unpainted border stripes will be white.
