Hungover Helping Cab Helps Drunks Work

I don't know bout you guys, but back in my 20-somethings, I would always end a drunken night by making myself some ramen noodles at home to stave off the effects of SoCo and Lime klassy drinks like Cosmos and martinis.

A London noodle company, Kabuto, is using this idea for good, helping drunks get to work the right way - in a FREE cab called Kab-U-To Work. It's stocked with hangover cures like Kabuto noodles, orange juice, sunglasses, and some British drug called paracetamol (I'm assuming it's British aspirin or something).

The FREE!!!! cab service is running during the holiday season and may expand to other cities. New Yorkers would ruin it because there's too many of us drunks trying to get free shit, but they may as well do it here because when would I ever say no to a free noodle cab?!

my lunch is kind of outstanding today, not that i need a reason to tell you about it. it is:

turkey + cheese with mayo on wheat, a pickle, cashews, trail mix, and grapes!!! and a sprite, because i'm a little hungover from celebrating my nycbearsary last night.

well, some scientists did some experiments and learned that the best hangover cure is pretty simple: coffee and aspirin. i'm okay with it, because that's pretty much what i do already.

They found the caffeine in coffee and the anti-inflammatory ingredients of aspirin and other painkillers reacted against the chemical compounds of ethanol, or pure alcohol.

Ethanol brings on headaches thanks to a chemical acetate it can produce and even low doses can affect some people more than others, said the study.

Professor Michael Oshinsky, of Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, induced headaches in rats using small amounts of ethanol.

He then gave them doses of caffeine and anti-inflammatories to find it blocked the acetate and relieved the headaches.(via)

as one gawker commenter pointed out, it remains unclear how the scientists knew that the rats had headaches, and when they went away....

the dehydration factor is a myth apparently. so the inexplicable unquenchable thirst for orange gatorade when hungover remains a mystery. maybe it's just that it is delicious.
