tami taylor to star in country strong

After lengthy negotiations, Friday Night Lights alumna Connie Britton has closed a deal to star in ABC’s drama pilot Nashville. Written by Callie Khouri, directed by R.J. Cutler and produced by Lionsgate and ABC Studios, Nashville is described as a family soap about love, country music, family, politics and sex set against the backdrop of the Nashville music scene. It centers on 40-year-old Nashville superstar Rayna James (Britton) who is stunned to find that her star is fading and her label requires her to team up with teen sensation Juliette Barnes (Hayden Panettiere) on tour–or else face the loss of her own tour and the label’s promotion of her latest record, whose sales have been underwhelming. Complicating things for Rayna, a married mother of two is the fact that she is the family’s sole breadwinner. (via)

this corgi has an amazing story

A Welsh Corgi named Ole, who managed to survive the avalanche that killed one of his owners, surprised his family by showing up four days later at their motel room in Cooke City, Montana. “I just saw it outside sitting by the room, which is pretty amazing,” said avalanche specialist Mark Staples. Dave Gaillard of Bozeman was killed after being buried by an avalanche southeast of town in Hayden Creek. His wife Kerry managed to escape by clinging to a tree. “His last words to me were, ‘Retreat to the trees.’ I think he saw what was coming from above, that I did not see. That reflects Dave’s amazing quality — thinking of others,” she told the Bozeman Daily Chronicle. Ole was believed to have been buried under the snow as well, but must have tunneled his way out. Still, the trek back to Cooke City was likely treacherous, with temperatures below freezing, and deep snow that would be taxing for the dog’s short legs. “How in the world he made it, I don’t know,” said Kay Whittle, the wife of a local businessman who returned the pup to his family. “If he could just talk — who knows what he did from the day of the avalanche until today?” via

Want to talk about Gwyneth Paltrow?

Well. I don't know if you have heard, but a couple of us peas went to the movies and saw Country Strong last night. We talked about it for a long time after leaving the theater, and all basically agreed that while the movie was a giant mess, it was so entertaining on top of the broken fundamentals that we each really enjoyed it.

For me, part of what really contributed to the success of the movie was the commitment of star Gwyneth Paltrow. She wasn't afraid to go for it and plant her flag at the top of crazy mountain.

The other good news was when I got home and found out that glee producer Ryan Murphy has confirmed that Gwyneth is coming back for two episodes on the back end of season 2, now filming. She and Mr. Schue are going to have a little romance, and probably do some singing too.

Also, did you know that though they have never met, Gwyneth and Rep. Giffords of Arizona are cousins?
