what's for dinner?????

here's a deceptively creepy picture of what was actually a nice, delicious meal prepared and enjoyed by rachel, emily, midge, and i last night. emily roasted a gd chicken. all by herself! and john made these brusselsprouts, in an attempt to convince me to like them. they were good....but i could only eat 2. it takes me about 60 seconds to chew one, so. i made paula deen's crockpot mac-n-cheese, which was just ok. rachel made a blueberry cobbler-y thing, which was delicious even if, as she said, her inability to find apple filling lost some points on the 'all-american' theme. i thought it was as american as blueberry cobbler, myself. and, of course, we polished things off with some tall, cool, bud lights.

UPDATE: david cutcliffe decided that he was no lane kiffin, and would not abandon his relatively new position at duke, no matter what peyton manning wants him to do, so:

"You follow your heart in big decisions," Cutcliffe told ESPN.com's Heather Dinich. "I have a lot of ties and a lot of people that I'm very close to, and a lot of respect for the University of Tennessee, but my heart is here. We've worked very hard these two years to change the culture, to change the team physically. You feel like the job's not done, and in this era, it bothers me, what we do as coaches, moving here and there. This is mid-January. Nothing about that felt right to me as a person." (via)

(thanks a lot, dad. i trusted you.)

"Word on the street is David cutcliffe is our new coach. 2Pz it up! Will be announced tomorrow."

dont ask how she knows. if you have any questions about who david cutcliffe is, just look here. the word on my street was that Peyton Manning "recommended" they offer cutcliffe the job. you do what he says.

what are you doing this weekend?

i'm really excited this morning, bc in a few short hours g.animalz, liz herber, and i will be on our way to sunny bOsToN!!!!! to see one mr. dj valdini!!!!!!! and guess what. i've never even been there before! i know!

coincidentally, i just finished reading this book, which told me all about boston's puritan founder, john winthrop, and his frienemies, roger williams and anne hutchinson. i'm really excited to check out their old stompin' grounds. so much history! my knowledge of boston tourism is pretty limited, so be sure to recommend anything you think we might enjoy. and don't say boston common.

the architecture nerd in me would love to see some harvard sights, like the carpenter center (corb's only building in north america, you know), and the GSD (that's where tanya goes to school!). beeun tells me not to skimp on the architectural wonders of MIT, but do skimp on steven holl and frank gehry. and what about the new ICA building by diller + scofidio (and renfro or whatever who cares)? everyone says it's just ok.

mostly, i'm looking forward to wonderful time spent with great friends. my guess is that djv has some great itinerary items planned out for us, especially for the night time, if i know him. i'll be back next week with a full report of just how much fun we had.

Death Bear will come to your house

We all have someone or something we would rather just forget. Things fall apart. Love hurts. Dreams die. But when you summon Death Bear to your door, you can rest assured that help has come. At first you may be intimidated by his stature and color (7 feet tall with a hard, black bear head, black jumpsuit, and black boots), but absorbing the memories of others is a dark art, and Death Bear must present himself appropriately for this solemn duty. Death Bear will take things from you that trigger painful memories and stow them away in his cave where they will remain forever allowing you to move on with your life. Give him an ex's clothes, old photos, mementos, letters, etc. Death Bear is here to assist you in your time of tragedy, heartbreak, and loss. Let Death Bear help you, and absorb your pain into his cave.
