about how the bees in Brooklyn were getting drunk and turning red from drinking too much cherry juice at the maraschino factory in Red Hook? Well the feds must have been listening, and things did not turn out so well for the maraschino factory owner. 

Inside the cherry factory, they found a hidden room with 80 pounds of weed, fancy cars, tons of cash and bees that were stoned out of their minds. For most of their history, private schools were the living embodiment of white privilege: They were almost all white and mostly moneyed. Not anymore. This year, according to the National Association of Independent Schools, minority students make up a third of the population of New York City private schools, and 18.5 percent of all students receive financial aid.

Educators charged with preparing students for life inside these schools, in college and beyond, maintain that anti-racist thinking is a 21st-century skill and that social competency requires a sophisticated understanding of how race works in America. In turn, faculty members and students are grappling with race and class in ways that may seem surprising to outsiders and deeply unsettling to some longtime insiders. And the term “white privilege” is now bantered about with frequency. (via)

westminster dog show is happening

the first half of the groups showed last night, here are the results:

in the hound group, 15-inch beagle miss p upset the crowd favorite and last year's best in show runner-up, nathan the bloodhound, who is famous for licking judges. #nathannation that being said, miss p is an adorable and hungry champion and if anyone has a problem with her they can take it up with ME.

meanwhile, a very privileged shih tzu won the toy group. her name is rocket, and she belongs to patty hearst, of the newspaper hearsts.

in the non-sporting group (shade), they gave the award to a thirsty standard poodle named FLAME!

and finally, the herding group, which includes not one, but two different kinds a corgis to pick from, was won by a dang sheepdog. his name is swagger and i think he must be cheating.

tonight, we get the remaining groups: sporting, working, and (god loves a) terrier, followed by BEST IN SHOW!!!!
